Gronk to retire

Yeah besides him. Literally who else? Because it’s Edelman and nothing.

Let’s see what the draft brings us. Talented groups at both WR and TE and we have 12 picks at the moment.

I'll miss him. I am grateful for everything he did for the Pats.

Happy retirement Gronk.

I was waiting for someone to make this comment. I’m surprised that it took this long.

You can hope he unretires if you want. Don't expect the team to do the same though. They will move on in one way or the other.

Still, Gronk coming back would hardly qualify as surprise.

It doesn't matter what anyone believes at this point and that includes Gronk. If circumstances offer opportunity to both parties there is every chance it happens simply because nothing prevents it from happening. (i doubt any of his new deals would have exclusion from returning to NFL)

I believe it is a genuine goodbye - at this point in time. Life has a funny way of bringing people back to what they definitely retired from though..

Cook cited Gronk’s uncertain status when it came to why he signed with New Orleans over New England. Unless you think he’s lying, an earlier decision could have helped push him in another direction. But it is what it is. The decision coming this late did not help New England at all, but he’s earned that right.

He didn't sign with New Orleans yet...

I'm probably missing someone obvious, but who was the last great Patriot to retire as a Patriot? Faulk? And presumably Bruschi before him?

Sorry to interrupt the sky is falling posts, but thought it would be nice to post Belichick’s statement:

My word the comments in the Kraft statement tweet are so savage.

Guy is never gonna live that scandal down.

Like, but only Bill's statement. Anything from Kraft is noise to me.

Gronk, Brady and Edelman all appear as if they will be Patriots their entire career. Pretty darn good trio.

I'm sad. Feels too soon. Love ya Gronk you will be sorely, sorely missed :(

Troy Brown

If he came back mid-season would they have to keep 9 million open in cap space? That might tell something

Yeah, I think that's the right read on this. I'm thinking he was on the side of coming back IF his body felt good by this point. It is likely he still has some aches and pains, and he owed to the Pats to make a decision around now, and here we are.

Sad day. Hard to watch great players leave. A bit easier when they go out on top, and with the signature play of the superbowl. I wish him the best and hope that he doesn't have any regrets down the rode.

BTW- It does make Willie Maginest's speculation about a mid-season return a BIT more viable now. Well we all have to have hope. ;)

Agree but his body can't be relied on anymore

Kraft said there’s a bunch of jerks in the league but Gronk wasn’t one of them. Gronk came in handy at just the right time for the team.
