Gronk to retire

What's funny about junk? After it goes in the dumpster I forget about it. My upstairs office needs cleaning but it's nothing to joke about.
You can throw your junk out ... I still use mine however infrequently. :D

End of a era for the Patriots. Going to miss the energy and carisma he had for the game . Best of luck Gronk.
I think he will likely "un-retire" at some point during the season

On a personal, selfish level of emotion I’m sad.

On a logical thought, I understand and I’m happy for the big fella. Go out on top. You don’t need the money or more wear on your body.

I was just thinking it would be funny if someone made a Hitler video of Gronk retiring. That would be good with the way that actor portrayed Hitler in it.

He’s going to secretly practice with the team all year and then unretire moments before the AFCCG.

Wow...Gronk came into the league 10 years after Brady and will retire 10 years before Brady :D

My second favorite Patriot ever.

Who the fu.ck is Brady gonna throw to this season?

You can hope he unretires if you want. Don't expect the team to do the same though. They will move on in one way or the other.

the team knows what it's doing..no one was implying that.

Happy for the guy to go out on top, greatest TE of all time.

I don't think I've ever liked a Pats player more on a personal level. That cheap hit to his knee in Denver in 2015 gave me an actual rage deep inside as if it happened to a family member. Glad he got to go out on his own terms. Thanks for the memories Gronk!!

Wow, I was standing in a bar in San Clemente, California about an hour ago with my Pats cap on, and this girl tapped me on the shoulder and said "Gronk retired about 10 min ago"..! I said "what"? It was such a shock. She then tried to tell me Tony Gonzalez was the #1 TE of all time - I got her straightened out on that right away. :D

In all seriousness, thanks Rob, you are indeed the best ever.

What exactly did he screw up ? If there was a move they really wanted to make they could have pulled the Gilmore restructure lever at any point since by now this kind of restructures are automatic.

I don't think they would have offered a lot more to keep Allen or to get Cook. The offense will change how it is run and if they make the right moves that is maybe a better thing than trying to recreate something with a lesser version of Gronk.

It is kinda surprising to me that people still think that Caserio, BB & co don't think ahead in situations like that.

Cook cited Gronk’s uncertain status when it came to why he signed with New Orleans over New England. Unless you think he’s lying, an earlier decision could have helped push him in another direction. But it is what it is. The decision coming this late did not help New England at all, but he’s earned that right.

And does anyone think it's possible BB has known since the season ended and didn't want the news out? That he sees disadvantage to Gronk's retirement being known, while negotiating with FA's or talking trade?

Now you might see a move because this is how Bill planned to clear cap space, while all of us were arguing about cap this and cap that.

Isn't that most consistent with how he operates?

Chess and checkers.
