Gronk to retire

This is bad news. Disappointed in him that it took so long to say as we could have made plans. But he has been a star and so good luck to him.

Bumming, I really thought he'd come back for one more year.

He’ll probably make it to the HOF, but I always crack up when people here claim that he was the greatest TE to ever play the game.

He’s definitely top 5, though. Good luck to him with his future endeavors.

Who was better? There was no more complete TE to play the game. Others played at a lower level for longer, but that's pretty much the only argument to be made for anyone else.

One of the greatest Patriots of all-time and made the biggest catches in both the AFC Championship and Super Bowl. Thank you, Gronk.

His peak was the greatest of any tight-end in NFL history, to the point whoever was #2 in any given year to him was not even on the same planet.

I wish him the best, but damn! I thought he was coming back. Gonna miss him.

Thank you for everything Gronk, what a great career. Sad to see it end, but thanks for that last big catch and Super Bowl victory.

Disappointed in him that it took so long to say as we could have made plans.

He's given enough of his body to this organization and its fans I'm not going to be disappointed that he took the time he needed to make the choice and I'm bumming that so many people are going right to this point.

I'd be willing to bet that he's been in communication with the team, and that they had a general sense of where he was. If he was trying to get his body ready and he just couldn't get there, then it's hard to fault him for that IMO.

And even if none of that is true and he blindsided the team, then whatever - he's given the organization enough that any criticism of this decision is inherently misplaced IMO.

He could have been the GOAT if he hung around for another five years to pad the stats and SBs.

It is his health and life and choice but I can’t help but feeling very disappointed and actually a little mad.

Edit: It has sunk in more and now it’s not “mad”.... just sad.

$9M more cap. Could have used it a couple weeks ago.

What a career from Gronk

Damn this offense is not looking good at the moment

He could’ve been the greatest ever, had he played another several years. Unfortunately, he missed a lot of time and had to cut his career short due to those injuries.

Bill knew weeks ago.

Greatest tight end ever. **** anyone who says otherwise

That sucks but the guy really had nothing left. He was a complete shell of himself this year.

Going miss him because he was one of the best when he was healthy.

As much as this feels like a "sad but happy" occasion, I feel like he may of retired if they won SB 52...
