Should the Patriots showcase banners for AFC Championships?

Sounds expensive

Where would they even go?

Also, Ray Lewis killed a guy

I forgot to mention, this also requires the construction of a second stadium, used only for AFC Championship displaying purposes.

Just to be clear, the army here that dismisses and denigrates everything in this franchise's history are not Patriots fans.

They're just fans of winning, like Canadiens or Yankees or Lakers fans.

I suppose that one banner depicting the Pats AFC titles is okay, but please don't give me a division title flag. Winning a "title" against only 3 out of 31 other teams is nothing special. It does allow the NYFL to sell more hats and shirts though.

Good, we'll take that as a "No".

As in, "Winning a conference title and making it to the Super Bowl is not an accomplishment"
OK Colts fan. You're right...;)

You pretentious twit, you wouldn't know a real Pats fan if one knocked you down on your phony ass. A lot of us have been around since it all began in 1060 so peddle your weak sh## elsewhere.

This thread and poll are making me inch towards your worldview, APF.

I get it if people think only Title banners should be displayed, but there seems to be a lot of spoiled mentality I wasn’t aware of. Let’s be clear: an AFC Championship is a real thing, it is extremely difficult to accomplish, playing in the SB in itself is a franchise making moment for any franchise. There are stages and celebrations and confetti.

Just surprised at some vitriol here, like having 11 conference titles isn’t something to be celebrated, and yes, linking the 1985 on extra would make this be great too as it extends the team back in its history.

Not disappointed if someone is against the idea for various reasons, but this “NO WAY, CHAMPEEEON-CHIP OR FAILURE” really is a stench I don’t like.

There's no Super Bowl 'participant' trophy. Or how about the Colt's AFC finalist banner which is ridiculous. LOL.

I could see an argument for recognition of an AFC championship, but it's not big enough to deserve its own banner. Did the Bills deserve banners for losing the Superbowl 4x in a row? Maybe they can just list when the Pats won the AFC championship on a plaque somewhere. Dunno. Doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

Not celebrating something is not tantamount to denigrating it. You play to win championships. That's it.

What if they put up something around the concourse or on the outside of the stadium or even patriot place?

I wouldn't put up a flag for each AFC title. However, I would like to see one or two flags with all the AFC titles on them somewhere in the main stadium. Perhaps above the opposite endzone from the SB flags.

And they should also put all the Hunt trophies somewhere where the public can see them in the Pats HOF if they haven't already done so.

Sure, or a plaque or something heading "AFC CHAMPIONS" and the years.

Something small and simple stating "DIVISION CHAMPIONS" would properly recognize some great Patriots teams, including lots this century.

Winning a division in the NFL is more impressive and significant than in hockey, baseball or basketball. It's harder.

For the same reason, listing "PLAYOFF APPEARANCES" somewhere would be appropriate and classy.

There's nothing wrong at all with wanting to go all the way, which I've wanted since I first started following all the Boston teams.

More than anyone, the players feel like a failure when they lose their last game. Worse than any fan. I was too young then, but the stories of the '63 Pats are out there and are heart wrenching.

Winning an AFC title is as important and worthy of honor as winning a pennant.

As far as expecting to win it all, there was only one season before Tom became the starter when we rightly felt that: 1976.

Which is one more than well over a dozen other (inferior) NFL teams had in forty years or more.

It just wouldn't be a thread if I didn't divert into uniforms, but about the Red Sox:

I grew up in the 70's, with Rice, Lynn, Evans, Yaz, Tiant and the rest, and we had these colorful deals:

Like the Pats, great years but never finished the deal.

I think going back to Babe and the Great War is too far, but I feel the real heyday and glory years of the Sox were the 40's and 50's.

Wait, what? Mr. Tom Brokaw Sucks favors the WWII era boys?

Yeah. And, they did not win a World Series.

But, that's the uni worn in the most important summer ever, '67. And in '86 too.

Losing the last game of a season does not make a team losers.
