Gerald McCoy: Thoughts?

Would you trade DM in order to pick up a younger McCoy. I won't use the word cut.

Nope.

Also calling McCoy "younger" when both are 31 and are only 6 months apart is as disingenuous as it gets.

I have serious doubts that B.B. will pay a receiver 13 million. I’ll go out on a limb and say it’s not going to happen. For 13 mill, he could get ten players

Receiver? Think you have the wrong player in mind lol.

Seems to be a lot of smoke regarding the availability of Solomon Thomas from SF. A young promising DL that simply isn't a fit in their system. His cap hit is only 650,000 with two years left on his rookie deal, and the compensation wouldn't be ridiculous. I read a 4th would probably get it done. This would be a typical BB move. Bring him in!

Seems at the moment like we're more along the lines of digging through the slush pile at the Goodwill store.
Goodwill: I'm going to have people donate the merchandise I sell and hire minimum wage employees and call it Goodwill. Pure Genius. McCoy is an interesting thought.

Just spent $9mm to get 33 year old Bennett without flinching. McCoy still has a three year contract. His dollars go down the next three years.
BB spent $9mm on Gilmore....If he sees...... and likes....he spends, that is not an issue.

Will he spend the Monopoly money extra few dollars more the get a solid disruptive force, many time Pro Bowler and known locker room good guy who is tied up on a descending cost structure?
I will say again, The Bucs need to move big salary.

They have a history of deals with the Bucs. Talib, Mankins and the Revis wink, wink.

My theory is if he has a chance to get McCoy, his love of DL guys is far higher than WR as we too well know. Guy, Alan Branch, Ted Washington, Anderson, Sheard to a lesser extent he spent a valuable 3rd pick on Shelton and even went out for Hayneswork who was poison but still took a shot. Why would he not consider McCoy?

It's just a theory but read all you can about the Bucs and McCoy might be in play.

There will be more smoke if SF drafts DL at #2.

Justin Houston just got $24mm for 2 from the Colts. Curry signs with the Eagles (cheap by the way). Philon signed with the Cards.

Would you take Suh instead of McCoy if the Bucs won't deal? How about Ansah on a prove it or Liugit who they both had injuries on an el-cheapo.

Throw the niners a 3rd for Solomon Thomas...that's my preferred option. Signed for two more years at 650,000 and 700,000.

Suh is not coming to the East Coast. Ansah is fine if you're interested in paying someone to be on injured reserve. I'd love McCoy on the Patriots but I put the chances of it happening at 1% or less.

I would take anyone if the cap hit is low enough to make it a low risk move. Think Pot Roast Knighton a few years back. Doubtful you will get anyone for whatever is the equivalent of 4.5m in 2019.

Ah. You must be part of the “cap is crap” crowd. The *Monopoly money* comment and big name proposals gave it away. How in the world are they going to afford these guys, and if it were actually as simple as throwing around Monopoly money, don’t you think we’d have a much more talented team?

It's just a confusing argument you're making. You're saying the Bucs should trade McCoy because they don't have enough cap space to sign their rookies, yet we should trade for McCoy, while we don't have enough to sign our rookies.

If it's so easy for us to create cap space at this point to land him, why is it so difficult for the Bucs to do it without trading such a disruptive force on the line with a descending cost structure?

No, The CAP can be manipulated to the betterment of the Team. Not a "Howie" fan, but see how the Eagles build a Team. Not all picks. A great smattering of very talented Vet's who actually thrive there.
The CAP is crap if you do not work it well or take a very conservative approach.
The Patriots take a very conservative approach and it has bit them in the ass this year. Sometimes the optics appear their disinterested.
There are plenty of trades this Team could make the would help.
They went non Patriot like to grab the 33 year old Bennett then gave him a raise. I feel that McCoy certainly is in the same value field of talent.

More?
A no brainer is Rishard Higgins for a fifth (or manipulated 4th) and $2mm salary. He would be the second best WR on the Teamfor production the second they sign him. This RFA signing is a head scratcher.

Cameron Brate TE. The Bucs make that move because of CAP. The second he signs he is the most productive TE we have

Solomon Thomas DT and Adam Shaheen TE. Two young men who need a different location.

Then there is McCoy.

Are any of these making the Pats better?
