Cordarrelle Patterson to the Bears.

And it seems that he never gave the pats a chance to give him a counter offer, i was under the impression that he liked it here.

There are 10 million reasons he liked it here.

I am sure the team let him know what he could come back for and it was really no decision for a guy who hasn't had tremendous career earnings.

Since when is a jet sweep a gadget play?

Good for CP for increasing his value while he was with the Patriots. Jalen Hurts seems to be the natural replacement ?

Hogan is coming back, isn’t he?

And Edelman has been running them for years.
Cooks did. Welker did a little. Branch did a few. Its a part of the offense. Patterson's size and speed took a play which has been in the playbook since Charlie Weis and made it a staple.

What was the expectation? WR3?

In his time here he had 1,138 all-purpose yards and 5TDs. For $3m that is outstanding production. Far from a failure IMO
Over half of those yards were kick returns.
Yes when Edelman was out and we didn’t have Gordon he should have at least been wr3.
I don’t think when they signed him they though 21 catches for 247 would be great, especially when the position was decimated.
He contributed only 230 snaps.

I like this signing, gives us flexibility to sign a mid tier free agent without losing a 3rd round comp pick

My point is anyone who thought he was a true WR3 in this offense did not have the right expectations. We knew his route running was suspect going in.

CP was a beast. He will certainly be missed in many ways. Good for him though, that’s a solid number and as others said, it seems like a good fit for him.

They'll make up the production but he was good here no question. Josh/Bill/Judge used him right.

What sort of compensation pick will we get?

Absolutely agree, we have a lot of draft picks along with free agency. It’s crazy how this team gets the most out of these guys and they go on to get nice raises though.

Most players I thought would leave have left, this is the part I hate. Now time for the Patriots to make some moves. I don’t want to see them sitting pat this offseason.

I liked having Patterson on the team as he added some spark to the offense and return game but 5 million is a bit steep for him.

Of course, the patriots have been paying him over $4M a year for a couple of years, so $5M isn't that much, given the fact that the cap has gone up, and Patterson produced for us.

Get used to it.

They might do something tomorrow like trade for special teamer for a 6th rounder in 2023

it seems like the Patriots are becoming the development league for players and coaches
