Good for him, the Raiders overpaid badly but we don't win the SB without him so he earned it as far as I'm concerned.

Trent Brown had a good year for the Patriots but giving him credit for the SB victory is the sort of hyperbole I would expect from his agent.

Sorry to see him go. Gruden playing chess while we wont spend...

I don't think Solder and Brown were really far apart in the big picture of things. Solder was overall better in the run game and Brown better as pass protector. On their bad days each of them was worse than the other on an average day.
Given that our offense relies on Brady that makes Brown the better LT.

Belichick's FA maneuvering is a chess match against the entire league.
Glad we won this year. I wont fret too much. Flowers will hurt.

Come to the Patriots and grow rich.

How many more will cash in for the big payday?
That's a good point. Every time a free agent like Brown comes here on a one year contract and exits with a big offer from another team, it makes the Pats more attractive to future free agents. Might be as important a factor as the chance of winning a Super Bowl.

How are all these deals allowed to be done before the legal free agency begins . ? If this was the Pats, holy cow, the league would have been all over them!

Picture of the reference book Gruden was seen with earlier today.

Think how boring this forum would be if everyone agreed :)

More of our kind of disagreement, less of the "longing for young hips isn't creepy" kind.

Wow. That's a lot of money. Our line's performance is definitely a combination of both Scar and Brady. Scar for his coaching and Brady for releasing the football under 2 secs.

It's not credit for the victory, it's acknowledging that we don't win without him. Those aren't the same thing.

If we don't win without him, that's giving him credit for the victory. Do you think the Patriots lose the SB with Solder at LT? I don't.

They didn't have Solder. Or had you forgotten. Do you think they win with LaArdian Waddle all season?

There are a number of players they don't win without. Obviously Brady. Edelman. Gronk. High. Gilmore. You could employ that same sentence using any one of those guys in place of Brown and it would be just as true. Hence the difference in the two statements.

I think they win the Super Bowl with almost any starting level LT. Waddle is a backup. It happened to be Brown but it could have been someone else, including Solder. As such saying they "couldn't have won without him" is exaggeration.

I think it's true of Edelman and Brady, but that's it. Possibly Gilmore. Certainly not Brown.
