Good for Trent Brown. He turned into will be paid like an elite LT.

Fixed that for you...... Brown had a good year here but was still inconsistent at times. If he was truly elite the Pats would have tried harder to keep him, I’d expect.

76 being my first season as a fan I hold a special disdain for the Raiders a lot of the younger fans don't. That said I hope all of their acquisitions make them good enough so they can at least knock off the Chiefs and Chargers once each and help us in the home field race and if they happen to get good enough to make the playoffs beating them again would be oh so sweet.

Please:

Let's talk about comp picks:

How would this work ? If no players signed, I assume that pats would get a 3rd.

Would that pick be cancelled out by any player signed or would the players have to be signed to a contract that’s in the “3rd round” range?
IIRC, first is number signed versus number lost. If we lose Brown and Flowers, both likely to be third round compensatory picks, we need to lose one more player before we sign one ( not necessarily before but concurrent with)or else that signed player even if low number would cancel out one of the picks. Florio originally wrote how if the Steelers let Bell go in FA last year ( revoke tag) they would get a 3rd rounder but they signed 2 FA and only lost one other so they would not have gotten a pick for him last year...as his loss would have been cancelled out ..

No issues with Trent Brown wanting to get paid, and no issues with the fact that it wasn't in Foxboro.

Hope it works out for him. I know that Dante really seemed to like him personally.

Terrible decision by Brown, he could have been a Patriot for half of that.

he'll be back by the time he's 28

Maybe that's why it is so outrageous? Because it was put together in such a short time, that the raiders didn't think about it twice?

Can you make the decision to marry a women, any women, within 13 minutes?

Well the raiders just did that.
I would marry any woman for 5 yrs for $36.75M guaranteed. Depending on the woman would decide how much time is spent at the local massage parlor.

Derp...the Patriots cheet. That must be why they win. Derp.

No amount of money is worth that kind of labor camp.

Hot damn.

When I come back in another life, I need to be a FA OL coached by Dante.

In fact, there should be a certification acronym for this. DSCOL
I'm pretty sure Dante will be retired by the time your reach that age, unless there's a Dante Jr. or a fountain of youth or cloning will be legal.

Another case of illegal tampering before the legal tampering period. How do they already have the contract done so fast.

Raiders: Trent Brown we want to give you the biggest OL contract in NFL history.
Brown: :D:D:DDEAL!!!!!!:D:D:D

Presumably. But a 35 year old in the final year of his contract. Maybe they’ll let him ride the bench as a backup.

not at 7 mill they won't

Nah I’ll just jump in my Delorean durrrrrrrr

While I'm not a huge fan of PFF's often-confusing and sometimes flat-out bizarre metrics, they don't rank Brown very high:
Raiders sign former Patriots LT Trent Brown, but is he worth the money? | NFL Analysis | Pro Football Focus

At the same time, those weird metrics came up with this prior to the AFC Championship game (after one game). :)

It would appear that their metrics didn't think too highly of his play in the last two games of the year.

Overall, Brown had a very good year. Started strong. Hit a lull and then played very well down the stretch.

I don't think hes the best LT in the NFL but hes not the worst.

Seems like an overpay for OAK but what else is new.

Glad for the year he gave the Pats.......but there's no way in hell he ends up being worth that $$ at all......again, great run blocker.....put in a system without the quick QB decisions and release, he's going to be exposed pass blocking in space.....we always talk about products of the system, and he's the poster boy

that being said, his play down the stretch was huge.....I'm thankful for it......but also thankful the Pats didn't just spend 16.6/year on him

It is unfair. But it is not going to be a problem we will sign less than we lost for sure.
