Kraft Orchids Case - Prosecuters Want a Tug Rule?

OT: Based on what the notes say within the Excel data sheets, the bolded above is incorrect. The income numbers are household, so in your little example, that family would reflect 150K, not 25K. Unless you believe each person in a household always files a separate tax return (which tends to work against a married couple to do so), which is the source for these numbers.....

Not that this is the place to discuss US Wealth and Income inequality, but the record should be corrected.

EDIT TO ADD - Something like 96% of married couples file jointly. So yes, for those 96%, their income number in that statistic would be their household income.
Drewski, I was referring to the chart on Betterthanthealternatives post on pg 160. Take a look at it. It showed the that the AVERAGE income for 90% of Americans is $33k. Average income takes HH income and divides be the number of HH members.

Regardless, it’s a bogus and meaningless statistic. The correct way to look at distribution of wealth is to use household income metrics.

LOL!! The fact that he is a defense attorney in the case means anything he says is 99% bullsh*t. I would trust a magic 8-ball more than a lawyer representing the defense.
It works both ways. The prosecution put it out there that these workers were enslaved, not being able to leave weeks on end and that the Johns were the monsters. They let that simmer in order to build public resentment. The fact that they are prosecutors should not carry any more weight than a defense does until the evidence gets weighed in a court of law......which some of you here apparently dont think is necessary. Cops said they did it so that's case closed for you. Jesus.

PR read the inside of the Excel file in the link that was shared with that chart. Its household numbers all based on pre tax income data taken from IRS data.

The document even agreed with you that the average US Household income was around 61K and change (which shows you how bottom heavy the distribution actually is)

Ok, so if the median HH income is $60k, 90% of Americans can’t possibly make $33k

......Can we please keep the posts about the Kraft case in this thread?

The original comment that led to this part of the discussion was that “90% earn less than 35000”.
That is not correct. The excel shows 90% make less than 124,000.
The point being when a group of people average 35,000 in income it is incorrect to say they all make less than 35000.

I agree with you completely Andy.

My only point was the original comment, that you lay out here, was incorrect. And PR was incorrect by further conflating the statement by saying that it was household numbers divided by number of people in the the household.

The $34K number represents neither of those things.

For crying out loud. This is a matter of no football significance whatsoever. It is of very little significance in any respect. As for the human trafficking nonsense, if Kraft is guilty, so is anyone who has eaten in a family-owned Chinese restaurant. Maybe he got diddled, and maybe he didn't. Who in their right cares? Many these days will pretend to be affronted, of course, as whining about imagined moral failings is the new national passtime.

I cant wait to hear the Cops/prosecutors reasoning for taking so long to make arrests in a case they call trafficking of people that were forced to sexually service people for money. A place where they say the enslaved would have to stay there weeks on end. Ive heard some of us say that it was necessary so that they could build a bullet proof case. Let me ask, which one if us would allow that to happen to our daughters or sisters in the name of building a case? How many times would you say it was okay for your daughter to have to service these guys? Either the cops were flat out lying about the enslaved human trafficking or they are monsters themselves.

LOL, this is true, but Gillette doesn't really have much more. Most other "newer" stadiums are much nicer. Although it does have functioning indoor plumbing, it doesn't have enough, and there are long lines for few and far between bathrooms every half-time. There is no escalator to the second or third level, only long ramps or stairs. You can take the elevator, but good luck finding it. It's really just a concrete box (with a big hole on one end that lets out all the sound). Now that I am officially old, I wish Kraft had gone for comfort of the fans. Minnesota, Atlanta, Houston and Indianapolis, to name a few, all have gorgeous, comfortable stadia. Even Miami and NY/NJ, who have outdoor stadiums like us, have much better facilities in terms of bathrooms, escalators, etc. Of course, we have the superior product on the field, so I should definitely not complain. One thing that really bothers me, though, is the cupholder situation. I sit two seats away from the end of the row. Some genius decided that you could not have cupholders sticking out into the aisle, so every row in Gillette is one cupholder short. My neighbor (who is a great guy other than this one thing) is never without two beers, one of which is always in my cupholder as his seat is on the end of the row and doesn't have a cupholder (he has seemingly never figured this out, or he thinks I don't care). If I get a drink during the game (something of a rarity because of the bathroom situation - I don't want to be in line & miss some of the game). I usually have to hold onto it until I am done. Maddening!!
It's amazing how dated a stadium can seem after just 18 years, but Gillette's inherent design flaws become more obvious with each passing season. Not sure, but haven't the Krafts been floating the idea of a soccer-only stadium for the Revolution somewhere? If that happens, maybe some improvements can be made to Gillette.

Speaking of Gillette, have they had any response to the petition?

Is there a contest to see who can devise the most breathlessly overblown post? I doubt very much that some billionaire's getting a hj puts your sister and daughter at risk. As for this suspicion of yours that the cops might be "monsters" in collusion with slave traders, get real, and seek help.

I'd go to war. It's similar to the 36B battles on a airplane. 36A has the window, 36C has the aisle and the 36B gets two arm rests but there's always one guy who thinks he gets both the window or aisle and two arm rests. Nope. That cup holder is yours Deb. Take it. Fight for it.

Answer the question. How many time would you allow your sister or daughter to have to sexually service Johns against their will so that the police could build a solid case? Remember it's the cops that said this was human trafficking and that the girls were there against will. Were they lying? And I didnt mean to suggest the cops were in colussion with them

not relevant, how convenient. Look it. Allowing sexual enslavement to go on for an extended period of time is wrong. The cops said this is what was going on. If it wasn't then they were lying just to get the public in an uproar. If these were concenting acts and no one was in danger then fine but it was the cops that put out the enslavement thing.

You are putting words in my mouth. How about you read what I wrote instead of playing make believe?

1) I haven’t even remotely commented on the idea that there was sex trafficking (other than saying Bob Kraft likely didn’t know about it) because I haven’t seen the evidence of that and, quite honestly, I really don’t care if they are able to prove that.

2) I have stated that while it isn’t unheard of for prosecutors to lie, I highly doubt they are lying about the video evidence they have. The report is so ridiculously specific, I don’t believe they are making it up.

3) I have stated repeatedly that what Kraft did is not a big deal, but don’t sit there and tell me he didn’t do it. Him getting off on a technically (if that is what happens) does nothing to change that fact.
