Don't you just love how you can find video of his 40 time all over the internet, but can't find his 3 cone/shuttle stuff. Hah!

He just has to be used right. I’m not entirely down on him just because of the 3-cone, although wouldn’t take him for the Pats, but if you do take him, you need to know what he can and can’t do.

I understand, I'm just annoyed there's no video footage of his 3-cone. Ridiculous. It's like propaganda. Show the good, don't show the bad.

There’s not a lot of video of 3-cones period. As a Pats fan, that’s the one I want the NFL to show live :)

It's obviously way too early for nailing down players, but I was bored and ran a mock draft simulation. I stopped after the first 4 picks, but I figured I'd lay that 4 out for people to critique.

  1. Lawrence
  2. Simmons
  3. Irv Smith
  4. Isabella

If you haven't played around with the mock draft machine, I'd recommend giving it a go. You can build your own big boards (or use the default), draft automatically or manually for as many teams as you'd like, and save drafts for future review if you create a free login. Neat tool.

I gave up it last night and subscribed to the fansided one so that you can get trades. Had a lot of fun with it last night.

I was thinking about the possibility of getting the 1st 2 picks last night.

Can't get more Patriot than that. Reshape the line now & going foward. Injuried player that could've gone top 20. Only thing is we'd have to be ok w Simmons one incident.

Lawrence AND Simmons? A ridiculously good upgrade to the interior DL, on paper at least.

I don't know much about Irv Smith - how does he rate against Hoch or Fant? (Of course, neither of them will be around in the 3rd.)

BB has shown that he doesn't care. I think that the question would be about , and whether his recent legal situation changes his S.O.P.,

Do you have a link to the fansided one?

There is no way no how you can pass on Simmons if he makes it to 32.

does anyone else think that bill will trade the 32nd pick and wait until the 2nd round? I wouldn’t be surprised. For some reason, he does not like to trade up. I think we need a deep threat receiver like the desert needs the rain. Also bill should seriously consider on drafting a qb after passing on it last year. I highly doubt Danny Etling is the succession plan.

With all due respect, do you trust us to draft a WR in round one? I hate the idea of trading out of round one. The ratio of starters in this round is too high.

I did 3 rounds at Fanspeaks on the Clock:

32: WR DK METCALF OLE MISS
56: DL DEXTER LAWRENCE CLEMSON
64: TE KADEN SMITH STANFORD
73: OT MAX SCHARPING NORTHERN ILLINOIS
97: LB BOBBY OKEREKE STANFORD
101: RB DEXTER WILLIAMS NOTRE DAME

So I am getting into discussions here at work about DK Metcalf's combine numbers. Freakish fast in a straight line, great jumping ability, crazy strong. Terrible in the 3 cone and the shuttle. Like worse than Brady. College highlights here:

My thought is that is that the one highlight at the 2min mark shows you that he's got great burst out of his stance, terrible or lazy feet on the break, and then great speed down the sidelines. He's great at go routes and fade/jump balls in the end zone. But put him in jam coverage, make him move his feet, and put a safety over the top and he's done, IMO. So, are his weak areas coach-able? Can you fix it, or can he, with a lot of work? Looks to me like a one trick pony. There's lots of fast, strong guys in the NFL. But can this kid run a route?

Some GM will get enamored with the combine and take him high in round 1. But I think you can't overlook his glaring weaknesses. Thoughts? A steal in round 2, but a big risk at the top of round 1.

I wonder if he'd be better TE than WR. Most TEs can't block anyway.
