OT: Nick Foles to Jax

And they'll hopefully be taking bites out of each other's records.

Yeah lets hope. Has to be one of the hardest divisions to predict this year.

Leaves the Giants as the only real question mark at QB in the NFCE , assuming that we accept that the Redskins will be their usual mess. In this case, can Smith return? If not, how long can they ride with McCoy?

Will the Cardinals take Murray as their #1 and trade Rosen to the Giants, where he'd start out behind Eli? Or, will the Giants try to position themselves to go after Haskins ,who would also start out behind Eli? If either scenario unfolds, I wouldn't bet on Eli being the Giants' starter in December.

That's a very misleading stat. Foles started off behind Vick. He's been behind Wentz in his return to Philly. He's only had 2 seasons where he was the unquestioned starter week one and could have had full seasons. In the first, he had his team at 6-2 before suffering a broken collarbone. In the second, post-trade to St. Louis, his missed games were because the coaching staff benched him, not because of injury.

It may be somewhat misleading, but still Foles is 30 years old and has never played a complete season. He has had a few spectacular runs spread over seven years, but shied away from the opportunity to be starter, so you can't use lack of chances as an excuse.

What the hell are you talking about? He was a starter for 2 teams. Look, your post was misleading, because Foles has spent most of his career as a backup. It is what it is. Just acknowledge it and move on, or just move on.

You need a QB and Foles is an improvement. I'd like it if I were a Jags fan.

I agree that Foles is better than Bortles, however...

It’s a “win now” move with the kind of deal he may get, ala the 2015 Broncos. We’d have to restructure and push money out and hope he’s all we hoped for, and win a SB the next 2-3 years. If not, it will mean we go dark like the Broncos, as our cap will need some “cut n gut” to be healthy. It’s a gamble for sure.

Foles best run was his 2013 season, so his playoff run in 2017 was not a one-off. He was good in 2018, too. The question is whether his high level play is something he can sustain at this point in his career, or is something more along the lines of the Flacco/Eli lightning strikes.

I'm not saying hes not any good. I'm just saying he occasionally plays above his level. Which is middle of the pack most years

Eagles’ Nick Foles ’bound for Jacksonville’ report says; Super Bowl star can’t sign until March 13

I guess this leads to the obvious question, are the Jaguars now the Pats biggest contenders for the AFC crown?

No. It's still the Chiefs. By a mile. Jacksonville was a mess last year. Lots of low character guys on that defense. And what has Foles done to lead anyone to believe we can expect consistently above average play from him? I think this has a much better chance of becoming Brock Osweiler 2.0 than it does Foles becoming a top ten QB and leading the Jags to the playoffs. They should have a soft schedule though. And a high pick. But they have a lot of issues. And it's impossible to say with any certainty how much of an upgrade over Bortles Foles will turn out to be.

Jacksonville needs receivers and a tight end before I consider them a threat.

Oh come on people, can we just admit that Foles probably made that team better?

I don't know where I rate the Jags as Superbowl contenders, they're a tough team to read right now, but people are going overboard underestimating them because of last year, and given the talent on the roster that's utterly unfair. Foles is clearly being brought in to provide some leadership in the locker room along with his production in the field and that's probably a good call. I'd think twice before sleeping on Jacksonville, even though they're hardly a lock to win their division I'd say they're one of the better picks for making the playoffs.

We'll see soon enough what kind of deal he gets. I just feel that he's played well the last couple of years and is worth a shot.
