How Much Is Jason McCourty Worth To The Patriots?

They need to address the safety issue, because they're starting to age back there. If they think think Melifonwu can do that, it's a problem at least partially solved. If they don't think that Melifonwu is going to work out, they should look to bring someone in, whether through FA or the draft.

Both SS and FS. I found it interesting Jonathon Jones played FS occasionally in the super bowl. He has great speed ... more so then Devin. I hope we got really lucky with Mel...sooner then later Chung's replacement needs to be found.

He is far far better than Rowe, speaking of Rowe, is he still under contract? I will check myself, no need to reply to this at the risk of derailing the thread.

Yup, we need to quickly replace Devin with J Jones because of Deven's lack of speed? Huh?

I believe he will take less... There is a huge difference playing for a winner vs a losing environment..... And i think he has tasted enough... Of the losing....4 mill and incentives sounds about right .. Gives the young bucks another year to mature ..

Is Eric Rowe still on the team, or do we figure he just goes straight to IR?
I think is a free agent so we will have to compete with other teams looking to improve their injured reserves.

Huh? Devin(sp) ran 22 mph after that interception...that's incredibly fast. Jonathan is no slouch either. He had a very good season and I would like to see him re-sign a long term contract.

I don't think their is a need to replace anyone unless they are unable to perform at a high level.

that was my point

Please give me a list of 4-5 players who are better and cheaper and available. Can't wait..

Yep, he’s seriously underrated in this forum.

The fact that both of them were contemplating retirement should scare teams away from doing any kind of long-term deal. I also agree that Devin committing to a return can be seen as a good sign regarding Jason staying. I can foresee Devin cutting his pay to about $6m and Jason signing for 1 year, $4.5m with incentives based on play time. If the young guys don’t develop as quickly as hoped and you rely on Jason a lot, he gets paid more. Or, alternatively, if injuries necessitate him playing a depth role at safety, he gets paid more.

DMac ain't giving back 3m dollars for no reason. He would take an extension for bonus money if the Pats wanted to finesse the cap for 2019, but he's not taking a straight pay cut.

I'm in favor of keeping the McCourty brothers together. Their communication and 'brain sync' is really a good thing to have back there. And with Gilmore as our Ace DB, that feels really solid on the back end.

Where do we get pass rush if Flowers leaves though?

From others players we will acquire via draft/FA and Wise/Rivers/Clayborn. Seems like the exact same question got asked when Chandler got traded.
