2018 / 2019 Celtics Open Discussion

Post trade deadline draft clarity.......2 C's #1's likely in 2019
Memphis's pick.....not this year unless the Grizz screw up tanking.
LA Clippers pick......trending "not this year" either.
Tanking strategy activated
Dumped their scorer, shedding cap space for next year...finishing as a lottery team with max salary slots and their 2019 #1 is a better long term strategy vs remaining a low seeded playoff team with no 2019 #1.

Sacremento's pick is 97% alive but these scrappy Kings have bolstered their roster at the deadline and look to climb out of lottery contention and into the West's top 8 with three better record teams in their sites. (Lakers are in the same boat)
Boston .......mid twenties pick seems their destiny.

2019 draft prediction:#18, #24................. #54
---------------------------------------
C's two recent games vs high profile Western teams.........two 4th qtr shrinkage displays by Kyrie. Multiple turnovers from forced passes in each game.....and don't get me started on his "defense."
Max Al was basically benched in the 2nd half vs a Laker team intent on crashing the boards. Maybe it was a health issue....who knows.....but without under appreciated Baynes, Daniel Theis became the Brad's crunch time choice.

C's vs West.....10-10
C's vs top 8 in West......2-7
-----------------------------------------------------

I've finally been able to pinpoint what I don't like about this new NBA. In this 3 pt crazy league, teams don't get many opportunities to defend their basket.

I can't help myself.....Gotta vent some more.
2-8 now vs Top 8 West teams.
Losing to the LAC...a team that just went into tank mode
Blowing 2 huge leads to nothing special teams
Getting booed by the most patient fan base in the NBA
Kyrie going down.....and the rest of the team folds
And most alarming to me, soon to be FA Marcus Morris eviscerates his teammates and the current culture of the club..."a bunch of individuals"...."we have no fun".

Danny Ainge took two body blows and a head shot last night.
His star goes down
His team wilts like fragile flowers
And his most dependable vet announces it sucks to be a C right now.

Talk about a FA recruiting nightmare.

Factor in the Celtics' perceived bounty of #1 draft picks is essentially worthless this year...likely a mid and late 1st rounders. Getting Scary Terry type quality in the middle of the 1st round doesn't move the needle.

Danny to AD:
Don't worry about our star PG who gets injured late in the season... 2 years in a row.
Don't worry about our max salaried forward who would struggle in the G League.
Don't worry about our fading #1 draft picks
Don't worry about gimpy Max Salary Al who will no doubt accept his excessive 1 year player option salary and then give the team JAG worthy stats of 10/5/2.
Come to lily white Boston and work Brad's insufferable weave/launch offense with teammates that exhibit no emotion when they're not resenting each other.
You'll love the chowda

On another note: why do opponents have their best three point shooting games against the C's? Is it because the C's choose to ignore 3 point shooters?

Brace yourself for a very interesting/tumultuous next few months.

4 more years of rebuilding and we are in...

This team cant shoot. Plain and simple. I hate watching Reddick drain endless jumpers. We could have signed him and he would have been perfect off the bench.

He couldn't defend an AAU player.

start of the second half. I admittingly cant watch more that 5-6 minutes of any NBA game. IMO, its a very poor product but i could be in the minority

Chemistry is bad because there's too many guys with self interest distracted.
- Rozier had a nice playoff run, is a free agent soon, going for stats now
- Morris is a free agent going for stats
- Tatum and Brown started and excelled on a playoff team that went to the ECF. Young players now being asked to be glue guys and role players
- Addition of Hayward lowers everyone's minutes pissing off everyone above
- Flat Earth Irving isn't a leader
- The only team-first guys are Smart and Horford

Solution is to get rid of some players and shorten rotation. Trade deadline passed. In offseason trade Jaylen, Hayward, multiple 1st rounders for Anthony Davis. Then re-sign Isiah as 6th man.

thought for the day..........everyone on the celtics has gone further in the playoffs than Kyrie has without Lebron.......hell, George Hill went to the finals with Lebron.....just saying

as for Anthony Davis, outside of personal stats, you don't have to worry about confusing him with success in the NBA

The more Kyrie Irving speaks, the less I like him.
I agree. I can't stand him. I could care less if he signs this summer. he thinks he's the second coming of the Messiah. he is no leader and he is a lousy teammate. I hate to see the Celtics bend over backward for him. he won a championship with the queen. he acts like he won 6.

I'm guessing it goes up the ***es of Ainge, Stevens and the owners to have to kowtow to him. Unfortunately, that's the way of today's NBA and, to some degree, all pro leagues. I liked it better when guys like Carlton Fisk and Bill Russell hated their rivals and openly displayed that particularly during games.

The celts are smart to kiss his ass.....if he decided to leave, it’s not going to be because management is mean to him......if it gets ugly, it will only because he made it that way

The celts will be fine and fun to watch without him....it’s not like Lebron leaving the Cavs

I think part of his problem is that while they may be a better team with him, his presence has not necessarily a positive net result.....and he probably wants to move on without too many people realizing that.

If I wasn't such a positive person :) , I might offer that Kyrie threw last night's game.
Sucked for 3 quarters (rimming lay ups)
Token effort in the 4th
Epic fail on last possession.
No final second heroics from this "closer"
Kyrie gifted Golden State multiple possessions with costly turnovers in crunch time

I'm convinced he's gone
I only wonder who will be the C's point guard next year.
Most PGs dribble the ball by their knees, Rozier prefers a high neck dribble

Lastly, it sickens me to watch this great franchise kowtow to this primadonna.
I cringe having to listen to Ainge and Stevens defend/prop up/explain all things Kyrie.
The C's GM essentially peruses all media.....social/print/TV .....and delivers 24/7 sugary sweet cover for the guy .
Red is rolling over in his grave

Question: Which NFL GM does Ainge sound more and more like with each passing day.
Answer: Jerry Jones

What we know:
Smallish point guard who doesn't defend
Looks frail (eat some meat for *^#*'s sake)
Looking more and more injury prone (pray he can finish one season with the C's)
Shoot first/pass later mentality
Zero leadership skills
Me first resulting in divisive locker room

Yeah....SuperMax this guy?

Will the Garden faithful dare get on his case during the rest of this "engagement" (Oh Danny....what was it like uttering those words.....did you have the shakes later in the day?)

OT: Props to Big Al
It pains me to write this but well rested Al was awesome last night. Can he sustain?

poor attempt by Kyrie in the last seconds of the game. he drove the basket and was out of control...he had a wide open Horford but decided to throw up some ******** circus shot. I hate point guards who are really good shooters (i know, sounds stupid). I would rather have a Rondo type PG that can drive and distribute the ball. Kyrie is obviously one of the great players in the game, but I dont think he is the best PG for this team.

File this under...I hate losing and will post some **** after them game out of frustration

Thanks for these running commentaries Borg; it's really my only peek into the House of Smeltic. I find myself not even bothering to check into their games whenever they are televised here, that's how little interest I have in regular-season games in the Ass-ociation. That, and they're just not a likable team to watch.

The problem with Irving is that he doesn’t make anyone else better
