Well, you can't say Florio doesn't know how to get clicks. He posted a piece saying Canton should waive the waiting period for BB and Brady. That ought to fire up both the haters and the fans.

For me, I'd be against it. They shouldn't get special treatment. Wait the 5 years until they retire and go from there.

Yeah especially if it means they would bump someone else who would have otherwise gotten in. Wouldn’t seem right.

I actually think it will be to their benefit to wait as well. Once they see what the nfl looks like without them I think they’d be appreciated even more.

I think non players should have a shorter waiting period

They don't do it for anybody in football so I won't care either way. HOWEVER, the only rational I see for waiving the period is to say "these guys are such automatic no brainers beyond any case we've ever had at their positions that if we didn't immediately let them in, we'd just be wasting ballot time and making other people wait longer"

I doubt either would want preferential treatment.

You could almost hear Florio smacking his lips at the reaction he expected from Patriot haters. And he got it...

Really good point. and OJ had already set that precedent.

Coupla guys it's probably not advisable to piss off, just sayin'

Eh, this is not a great thread. Not even worth discussing.

Honestly, who cares. These two are not HOFers - they are transcendent, all-time greats.

LOL, I was 47 in 2001. I knew Brady was destined for the HOF. I've had going to Canton for his induction on my bucket list for many years now. If he doesn't retire until hes 45 that means I'll be 74 years old with the 5 year waiting period. Yes put them in now, Damn it.
I was 18 in 01 and said the same thing I'll go when they put Brady in well actually I said when they put one of our guys in with a ring. I gave up waiting a long time ago I was about an hour away from Canton so me and the old man went and wound spending over 4 hours. Thinking about sticking to my original vow and going back for Ty this year. Do yourself a favor don't wait it's a great time and plenty of Patriot history in the building even if our boys with rings are still playing/coaching or waiting on their votes. Ty will be the first of several reasons to go and I again suggest you do.
