Article definitely seems like an opinion not a fact. But watching the games I don't see how we can let him go Even being expensive, on a long term deal the cap hit for the first year or two wouldn't be bad.

Man that’s 17.5 million. You’d think they’d offer him a long term deal that isn’t as much of a 1 year cap hit.

Glad he's guaranteed to be a Patriot next year. Hope they can work out a deal instead of having to leave the tag on.
Even if the article is true and they tag him, nothing is guaranteed at all about whether or not Flowers actually plays for NE next season.

Anyone else sensing a tag and trade to Oakland?
Belichick would love to fleece Oakland.

At the very least, it would prevent him from hitting free agency next month, keep the talks going through the deadline near training camp, and give them a higher round draft pick if they can’t work something out.

Well....that’s the point right? The reason to tag him is because you don’t think he’d take the long term offer and you want him to play for another year despite a tough cap hit over that time.

Curious to learn how Flowers feels about the tag (which is still a hypothetical IMO).
