NFL "Turning Point" Super Bowl LIII

It was Judge Bill was asking who was standing to his left.
Maybe, though it looked to me like he was talking to someone on the headset. Same when he was asking where McVay was. Either way, great clips. People who think BB wins by being a control freak unilateral monster just don't get leadership.

Finally got a chance to finish watching it. There were some awesome moments in that game for sure.

Loved that they saw the same play earlier in the game where J McCourty was to break to the middle to cover and even though the first attempt (by Rams) got stifled because of the pass rush, the fact that they recognized and had planned to cover the weakness was just awesome in every way imaginable.

Clearly, the best defensive moment in a game that was all about great defensive moments.

Just finished watching that. My favorite part was when Slater and Edelman were hugging and you could see Slater tearing up when Edelman answered "yes" to the question of whether he was the MVP.

Hope Tommy Boy doesn't see Jules cheating' on him with another bromance

Yea it looked like he was pulling back the mic on the headset. You could hear Judge respond. With that said I bet Ernie chimed in with some kind of stat to support kicking the FG.

Agree- Even though BB sought out other opinions he made the call decisively

I found it interesting that BB really wanted to get eyes on McVay. He wanted to read him. He was reading Pete Carroll during the last series of that SB and it paid big dividends when Bill decided that Pete had his shirt on fire and NOT calling time out was the best move. He wanted to keep an eye on McVay in case similar circumstances developed.

I thought this was by far the best of the post SB recap shows including Sound FX, Inside the NFL and others.

Agreed. He's playing chess, everyone else is playing checkers. Talk about the game within the game. He's amazing.

To me, the pre-game chat between him and McV was telling. McV basically ball washes BB, and Bb walks away with additional knowledge that the kid is in awe. Game over.

yall mentioned a lot of things, but here are my thoughts

as yall have said, start difference in coaching...and yet at the end of the day it only meant 10 point diff on the field...after these clips i think of McVay as a worse coach than going into the SB, but such a difference between the two (at least in game) and yet it accounts for just 10 points?

maybe McVay is better off the field/pre game etc, because just what you see on the field should account for more than 10 points, its the cheerleader diff vs the Xs and Os guy

more so, if you told anyone that final kick would be good, yeah, everyone would take that choice, the prob is the chances the kick isn't converted that makes you think about going for it to ice the game...i kinda wanted the more than 1 possession win in SB narrative to end, so i wanted FG

I still can't believe that was an actual discussion. Under what scenario would not going up 2 scores be the right choice?
Get 6 inches and the game's over. It's not a slam dunk.

I loved it at the end when Belichick told MacDaniels”they’re tired, just run your best play,” and they ran Sony Michel between the tackles for a huge gain, then did it again with Burkhead. That essentially ended the game, and it was a right in their face run game they went to. Great win.

Just watched that one from nfl films.

What a stark difference between these two teams. Belichick is always giving technical advice, coaching the defense to stay vertical in the rush, talking about tight ends on their side who can’t block so attack there. McVay didn’t say much other than he couldn’t wait to see what our plan was. When he said he got out coached, it’s almost a hysterical funny understatement.
I’m glad to have seen this because, I already knew bill is the best but seeing this showed me why and how he’s doing this, a little anyways

Well said. Belichick is a great leader but the shocking part was how poor McVay was at motivating, being critical at the right time, etc. All high fives and “great job buddy!” even when Goff threw away their season with a back breaking pick. I mean, you don’t have to throw him under the bus, but “you’re doing great!” after that throw? Lol. Halftime speech was also pitiful. “I think we got this. What do you think, man?” “I believe in us. How about you, man? You already to win, man?”

McVay was channeling Pete Carroll. Good coach, don’t want that.

When the line to gain is the length - if not the width - of your hand, and your Kicker has already missed a FG attempt, and has made a habit of fecking up kicks in SBs.

I would've shoved the ball right up their La-La azzes, by either a Brady sneak or a power stretch hand-off to Michel behind Develin...both of them from quick counts.

Not surprising; Slater & Edelman are the most senior players on the team after Brady.

Yeah, they had that feel to them of just in serious football ways in a situation where B.B. is probably going to gut you like a fish even if your a good coach. One person pointed out the thing with the roof. McVay: wow, I’m getting goose bumps.

B.B. ref, why in the hell is that roof open? There’s going to be a wind factor now.

That is really telling. That coaching performance should go down as the gold standard

I have watched this 3 times. Awesome. Was going to watch it again but they took it off you tube
