The draft

Didn’t do so badly last time we took a QB late in the sixth.
That was 19 years ago when scouting wasn't so advanced. There will never be a 6th round pick like Brady ever again. But point taken. We already drafted a 7th round QB Danny Etling, why bother drafting another QB.

Just a side note:

Every year, I read WalterFootball's mock drafts. And, every year, some of his choices result in "hmm.... that's very interesting, and well worth pondering", while others result in "Just what in the hell was this guy high on when he did this mock?".

Charlie Campbell's mocks seem to be more sane.

Belichick has drafted QBs well over the years. Cassell, Brissette, Garropolo, Hoyer have all been fine as backups. Actually, I'd love it if they could get Brissette back from the Colts.
That's an interesting thought. Brady should be done within 2 years, and in 2 years Brissette will be a FA and Luck will still be the Colt's QB. Who knows.

Also the Pats would be OK (read getting to the playoffs) with Hoyer. Don't forget that Bryan Hoyer, when he was healthy, was close to .500 as QB for the Browns. So he isn't talentless.

The same guy who punched a woman? Karma's a *****.

He was a teenager who defended a family member in a fight. He stupidly hit the woman multiple times while she was down. But if you watch the entire video, the woman and his relative are still arguing and yelling at each other for another couple minutes, and it takes everyone a while to de-escalate. I don't condone hitting people, but I'm not so sure that I'd react terribly differently if someone attacked a relative of mine.

This is pretty different from the Kareem Hunt incident, or Ray Rice, or Tyreek Hill.

Hit women end it right there. Than to make it worse you say he hit her multiple times when she was down **** that dude

Simmons' action were worse than Hunt to me.

Brian fits the bill for backup but self destructs in the big games, Cleveland Houston.

Agree, and his family member didn't look like she needed help defending herself, she was almost twice the size of the other woman and was throwing a few hay makers at the woman. If two woman are fighting, and you're a man, either 1) stay out of it or 2) try to separate them and 3) call the cops. Now, if the other woman brought her man, then that's when you step in with fists-a-blazing.

For reference here is the video

Also, don't want to hijack the thread, lets get back to draft talk :)

so in theory if the Cardinals draft Murray with Kingsbury do the Patriots make a move on Rosen and buy low on him?

I would trade him for a second round pick, just so Bill doesn't have a second round pick to draft a CB or WR with. But now that we have two second round picks this year, it's going to be tough...

It is funny how people treating hitting women like the most sinnful crime you cannot come back from. "He abused a little child; at least he did not hit a woman. He drove drunk and almost killed some one; at least he did not hit a woman." Hitting anyone is wrong in general.

I don't think any of us will disagree that he behaved poorly. He pleaded guilty, though, and he's apparently fulfilled his obligations to undergo counseling and has become a model citizen throughout his college years. I guess we just have different thoughts on how to accept apologies and rehabilitation -- I'm more likely to be hardline with punishment than most people, but I'm also likely to accept others with open arms after they've served their time. I'm not going to hold the hotheaded actions of a highschooler against Simmons when by all accounts he's matured from the experience and now looks back on it with shame and remorse.

Or how about this? I keep coming back to this story from Ty Law. He had a rough youth, to say the least. I'm extremely glad that he got straightened out before he killed someone (or got shot), and I think we all cheered when he went into the HoF. But by all accounts, he was much more of a menace to society than Simmons ever was. Funny what we forgive once the player is already wearing our laundry. ;)

Condenming drunk and drive makes you a normal human being. But sending people to the ultimate hell for hiting woman makes you the white knight of the year. It is funny how people draw the line in the sand.

I mostly agree. If we want to be fair then we should be considering weight and strength, not gender, into the equation. Case in point:

Damn, Pats should get her into camp for a good hard look. She seems like she’d be a mauler who could add some depth and nastiness to the OL unit.

I thin the reason it is seen this way is because in general a man is stronger/heavier than a woman, and it is frowned upon to hit someone weaker than yourself, this includes elderly, kids, disabled, etc, they're all frowned upon similarly, its not gender specific, its because generally those groups can't defend themselves to the same extent that a general man can

For a significant portion of our society I'm not sure that the stronger/heavier person kicking the **** out of the smaller person is all that frowned on as long as it's a dude whaling on a smaller dude for talking ****.
