Pats lose another coach - Brendan Daly to KC

I thought teams are able to block coaches to go to other teams for the same position?
They can, but the coach has to be under contract with the current team. So I am guessing Daly's contract expired.

We still have the coach that matters so we'll be fine. And if cloning technology can hurry it's a** up, some day all of our coaches will be Bill Belichick.

Keep and eye on Bill Sheridan to come in and join the staff. He was Schiano's DC in TB and is currently DL coach at BC. Worked for Coughlin. Coached at Army.

Bob Fraser was with OSU and was the DC at Rutgers when the McCourty's and Harmon were there.

wasn't there an article mid season saying there would be an exodus of coaches (and players) this offseason?
Technically yes, but it was predicting a mass exodus at the Caserio/McDaniels/Flores level, specifically because the supposed 2018 struggles were going to be a sign of an upcoming decline. So it’s hard to say it was overly accurate at this point.

Believe it or not this isn't the worst thing in the world. Yes losing talented players/coaches sux but it breeds a culture of competition. If you work for NE, Bill you're never satisfied or comfortable Im thinking. Its not for everyone but I can assure there are more than a few coaches that can do the job.
Also & maybe more importantly, turnover in our staff isn't as bad as it is in other places.
1)Bc of Bill.
2)It makes it much harder to key on tendencies someone w longevity might become reliant on. Things stay the same here but are always changing at the same time. Compare that to Pitt or more recently LA, Sea where you know what you're getting long before you're preparing for them.

I think we'll be alright.

Yeah, not worried at all. Bill - among many other things he does well - is very good at finding and teaching coaches who are a very good fit for him and the organization.

Relax peeps!

Actually there were rumblings about this all year. Due the fact that BB pulled the reins after our SB disaster last year

Anytime you pick apart a world championship coaching staff and majority goes to your in division rival.
There is a need for some concern.
Good grief ...
How about it will be nice to have more competition in our division for a change.

What secrets ? We are running exactly the same schemes and plays like everyone else.

That being said.. this one is pretty surprising.

Secrets? Everything is on film. Players move all around the league.

Come on. The secret sauce with New England is that there is no secret sauce. BB grabs players who fit a scheme and puts them into a position playing to their strengths and expects them to execute.

The only real exception to this below OC/DC is Scar. He's golden.

Flores leaving hurts...players loved the guy and he dialed it up beautifully. All the rest? Who knows?

It's not the scheme I'm talking about. It's player tendencies, which don't always show up on film. Our coaches obviously know the strengths and weaknesses for every player in their position groupings. Any little tidbit could help the other team. Last year, the Eagles knew Rowe was a liability because he was on their team in 2016 and so went after him hard in the SB. With that said, coaches change teams all the time in this league so there is little you can do. I just hate that Daly went to probably our biggest current AFC rival.

Last year, the Eagles knew Rowe was a liability because he was on their team in 2016 and so went after him hard in the SB.

Except it really didn't matter and Rowe had a good game once he was on the right assignment. So this was more about BB/Patricia ****ing up the initial matchup than anything Rowe did.

I get your point but I honestly think you can even see most tendencies on film. But yeah obviously them moving to the NFC would have been preferred.

I'm curious if money was a factor in any of the defections. Wouldn't be in the coaches best interest to have their salaries disclosed as our the players. Does BB have free reign on what to offer his assistants and can he see if its in line what other teams are paying?

He did a good job here. Good luck to him in his future endeavors.

Somehow, I think BB and the coaching staff will be just fine next year.

Yep

I think this was like Pepper Johnson, he wasn’t going to go any higher so leaving was his only option.

Belichick will have this covered.
