Except if he is better than anyone we draft that's good reason to bring him back.

We haven't drafted yet, plus we ended winning the superbowl without him anyway.

Yeah, I think that's right. He's a nice bonus. There's no reason not to want him back.

I like the idea of bringing in someone like Tyrell Williams, letting Hogan walk, bringing back Dorsett and Patterson, drafting a guy with one of the first five picks, and keeping a spot warm for Gordon. It's not the 2007 squad, but it's a good group. How good it is probably depends on the rookie and Edelman's ability to maintain his high level of play into his age 33 year.

Put me down for Tyrell Williams too would be nice young player to go with the rest.

One of the problems with Patriots fans is the disconnect from reality that's come because BB/TB have so skewed things here.

You can win a Super Bowl in any number of ways, and with any number of weaknesses. That doesn't mean that you should be trying to do it that way. The Ravens won a Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer under center. That doesn't mean that he's legitimately a SB level QB. It means that his team's defense overcame his limitations. BB repeatedly looks for middle-deep threat OWRs, hybrid LB/S, etc... because he knows those positions matter when it comes to increasing the likelihood of success. The Patriots have won Super Bowls without Gronk. The Patriots have won Super Bowls without Edelman. That doesn't mean that those players weren't important and needed.

In New England, Brady overcomes the offensive weaknesses, and BB overcomes the defensive weaknesses. That doesn't mean that you don't need talented players filling roles. And that's something that could become more true in the next couple of years, as Brady ages.

I was talking about a specific post as I interpreted it when I read it. I have not given any opinions on the topic in doing so because it is a topic with far too many layers to be adequately discussed on a forum.

I wish him well in getting his life together. Life is more important than a mere sport, especially when dealing with addiction. He's a person first, product second. That's all I'll say on the matter.

Here's how you could consider it: What if he is at his best in a supported, structured environment such as with the Patriots organization? When he is with the team, he is accountable for his behavior, and there are people who will check in with him on a consistent basis.

On the other hand, if he's out on the streets, by himself, there's nobody looking over him, nobody hovering over him. He has no family.

I know his track record at this point is abysmal, but the cost to us is minimal. And who knows, maybe he'll suddenly defy all odds and finally succeed in getting his life together?

Buddy, rule number one is never let no one know how much dough you hold. Never get high on your own supply is rule four.
Rule 1 is just never let anyone know how much you’re holding. Period. Dough or stash, both are subject to Rule 1.

Implied in rule 8, but you’re right that rule 1 should’ve been more clear.

Except he won't be able to follow the #1 rule of drug dealing: Don't get high on your own supply.

The amount of bling you can make in that trade though.

Apparently a nice guy, lots of talent, BUT, he couldn't overcome his problem with addiction even when put into the most favorable position any wide receiver in the NFL could hope for.

It will be a miracle for Sanders to play again at remotely the same level he was at. Achilles tears are worse than acls..
It’s been done, Boogie looks great right now, Wilfork came back as did Steve Smith. I wouldn’t count on him, but he’s worth a shot because he’ll be cheap and he’s an excellent fit if he recovers.

We need talented players that have their head over their shoulders and Gordon just isn't that guy. He contributed greatly when he was here but I think Bill can find someone else to fill the void. Most fans in NE will never trust him again.

I have much respect for Ricky Williams.

He just up and quit the Dolphins one day and then pitched a tent on the beach where he could smoke weed all day. Living his dream.

I'd like to see Gordon back if they can get him for vet min. He absolutely should not be seen as a starter, but he could be a useful weapon if he can stay clean and get back in shape.

They first priorities are improving the WR position, they need at least 1 legit outside receiver, Hogan is getting worse and worse, Doresett is #4 at best. I have no idea what will be out there, but especially if Gronk hangs it up, we need a #1 receiver, another outside WR, more depth. Gordon could be useful for that depth

Before you dismiss Gordon, look at the Patriot's wide receiving corps and consider
the difficulties they have adding wide receivers either thru the draft or free agency
who can get open. Danny Amendola would look awfully good about now.

Bring him Back. He is a soild wr wen on the field. I give him another shot

Agree with the first sentence. Disagree with the second. ‘Dola is well past his prime. We don’t need another cliffdiver.

It is hard, if not impossible to accommodate a guy who, as soon as he is out of your sight, will sneak off to do drugs or whatever, and get suspended.

I have real sympathy for Josh and wish him the best in his life, but i would rather move on with someone who can totally invest.

I wouldn't sign him to an extension, but I would definitely let him finish out his contract and just have a contingency plan in place should he fall off the wagon. Mine a well get 1 more year of productivity if you can, he was a great asset to this offense and was loved in the locker room
