I think with Edelman last year we could have won the SB.
But whatever happened it happened.

We definitely need a big receiver l, Gordon was gonna be the guy but I think he is pretty much done with the NFL.

I have high hopes with Patterson, guy can fly, and he can get up and get it, problem is that he is not a great route runner.

We could go for Cobb or Tate, these guys can run excellent routes, especially Tate and he has the speed and possibly create nightmare matchups.

Cobb was a hell of a player a few years ago before injuries confined his progress. IMO he seems to be done in Packers and he would be a nice addition as a vet. When healthy he still can create a space and play both outside and slot WR.

So you have high hopes for a player that doesn't possess the most important trait of a WR?

He has been in the league for 5 years. If has not improved at it by now then odds are he won't get any better at it at all.

He is a 2-2.5m role player. Maybe 3m if you add his ST abilities. Anything more and "he gone".

I don't think they can let Flowers walk. Pass rushers are tough to find. He's a guy you gotta break the bank for.
Since when does BB break the bank for anyone ? If he let HoF candidate Seymour walk, it can happen to anyone...

Still on cloud 9. Still can’t believe the Pats have SIX championships. Mind boggling.
I'm still giddy. This was a HARD season. Coming off a rough SB52 and off-season. Started 1-2. Got Jules back. Got Josh. Lost Josh. Lost 2 in Dec.

I'm not on to anything. Still celebrating this one for a few weeks.

That’s what loser do.
If PJ (@Patjew) was an actual member of the patriots, he would do the Tyler Seguin tour and probably be completely out of shape and tear his Achilles at his first workout.
I’ve already started looking through the college ranks and draft boards to see which LB or WR we are going to draft in the fifth round and eventually IR and never get to see play in an actual game. There is a Sean Crable or Josh Boyce in every draft and you just have to know where to find him.
Now you ladies go enjoy and let the men do the work.

Hardly any good pass rushers actually hit the open market in FA as most of this class will end up being franchised and so many teams have so much cap space they almost have to spend to keep up with the minimum spending that bringing Trey back is going to be difficult, this is his chance for his big payday now and he's already got his 2 rings so leaving big money on the table is very unlikely.

Pats could in theory "break the bank" and it might still not be enough, that's what happens when you let guys hit the market.

Hopefully Nate Solder's most recent campaign scares teams away from Patriot LTs

He traded him for a 1st before his age 30 season, not let him walk for nothing. He got a fairly big extension before that. Flowers is still just 25 so he’s in “extend” range not “better a year too early” range.

I would think NE will find a way to offer a top of market contract to Flowers (Danielle Hunter or even the Gilmore contract have been used as examples in this discussion before) but there are several teams with stupid amounts of cap space that could blow up what top of market even means and price NE out of the competition.

Would be nice if Brown came back...I don’t feel like I have a good gauge on whether he is of great interest to other teams. I had never even heard of him until we traded for him, it’s not like Solder who was a 1st rounder and (despite getting beat up here for occassioally poor play) had a pretty good track record of success over several years as a starter.

Fair points. I just feel when they are able to re-up, it happens in advance, like with Mason. I think people are on to Flowers' value and they will be offering so much $$$ that only a franchise tag keeps him here for 2019.

I have said this before and will continue to say it, as long as BB is in charge, then there is nothing for me to say about the draft picks, FA or who should be cut, restructured, and etc. In BB I trust. Besides I can't control any of these decisions. At the beginning of this past season, I wasn't happy with the draft choices, and FA. So what do I know BB just won a SB for the Pats.

Go BB, I would like to see another SB win.

Yes. Trent Brown was also magnificent in the run game and routinely stone walled elite defensive linemen..with just a few sub par performances. Good left tackles are extremely valuable. Look at what Solder got.

Plus the Patriots invested a first in Wynn who is projected to be a LG or LT..played LT in camp last year.

For the record I hope I am wrong. Brown was a HUGE part of what we were able to do down the stretch on offense. Hes a mammoth .

How much is Trent Brown actually worth in FA? A lot of his success in NE is due to Brady's quick release. Is another team really going to empty the vault for him?

When it comes to Brown, here are the Left Tackles under contract for 2019...I'd 11-14M per is about right

it's funny, the more we win the more I think about the next season faster. I am already a little mad at the predictions for next year by the prognosticators..
I mean, in total transparency I'm thinking about 2019 as well. I've posted about my concerns (and interest) about resigning Trent Brown, what they are doing about Devin Mc's $13m cap hit, what positions to draft for, etc. Thats fine.

But what I suggest fans of this team to do (especially the younger ones who have never lived through 1-15, 2-14 seasons and may not have a total appreciation for history) is to take a moment to really appreciate the magnitude of what this team has accomplished.

For example, Mrs RW and I pulled the kids out of school yesterday and went to the parade. The weather was great and we had a blast....but it was important to make the memory.

30 years from now when I am a grandfather I want my girls to tell their kids with me in the room watching the Patriots on a Sunday that they saw in person the greatest football dynasty of all time which was led by the greatest coach and QB in the history of the game.

Like Brent Musberger said about Larry Bird..."You are watching what greatness is all about".

This will never happen again. Life is too f__ing short to not enjoy this just a little bit longer....

I feel that the Pats will make trades/signings before the draft to build depth at WR, DT, and TE. Maybe LB or DE. S if DMac retires. They don't like to have glaring needs going into the draft. The trades could be lower round picks or one round trade backs. Nothing too big.

I feel they'll let M. Brown and Shelton walk and hope they get paid enough to get comp picks. I would franchise Flowers or break the bank for him a bit. If there's anyone you trust with a contract more than most it's him. He just melds into the unselfish, multiple defense so well, moreso than the talented but one dimensional Chandler Jones and Jamie Collins.

I think some team with a bad offensive line and lots of cap space will offer Trent Brown stupid money and he'll be gone. And when you hear the terms "bad offensive line", "lots of cap space" and "stupid" you think of the Jets. Sorry, dude. But at least you'll have $15 million or so to deal with that mess.

Given all that, if I had to guess the order in which we'll draft positions, I'd say:

TE, DT, QB, WR, WR, OT, S, LB, Punter?

Chance of trading up to grab a QB: 25%?
Chance of signing a better-than-a-backup QB: 40%?
Chance of staying pat at QB (Brady, Hoyer, Etling): 35%
