six championships not the most for a QB

And...nobody will ever beat Bill F'ing Russell anyway.
He's got time. I wouldn't rule it out just yet.

dude... can you even imagine?

A year ago I had the conversation re: Graham vs. Brady. I think it is a fair question, even though the eras are hard to compare. I personally think both BB and Brady would like to see a classic old timer mentioned in the debate, given their respect for the game and its history (especially BB).

In the modern era. I gladly concede that Montana is better in actual Super Bowl performances (Brady has tended to have a potentially serious mistake in all but a couple of them), but overall, it is now pretty clearly Brady over Montana.

Still, I'd like a 7th to just lick the salty tears of the haters!!!

5 years ago Niners/Steeler fans were saying, "Not as many as Montana/Bradshaw!"
3 years ago a Packer fan said, "Not as many as Starr!"
Last year, it was, "Not as many as Jordan"
Now it is, "Not as many as Graham"

Keep going, baby!

I want the threepeat we should have completed with this one. That would give Brady 8. Then, after winning another couple, one for each finger, we can draft Tom's replacement.

The NFL before Namath was truly professional football.

Would you exclude Red Aurbach's basketball championships in the 40's?

How about pro hockey? Should we ignore all championships before 1960?

I suppose that it reasonable to ignore all NFL football before Namath. Personally, I think this to be an unreasonable view.

Professional sports did not start in the 60's or 70's or later.

Actually the modern era for NFL QB's started with Unitas in the mid 50's.
Not Namath.

I think it's great to acknowledge the old time greats. I also think it's ridiculous for people to denigrate the games, or players, from back then. We've seen enough proof that players could have transcended the differences of time that we should know better, particularly in sports that aren't football (Football's difference in nutrition/training has impacted player performance more than in other leagues). Guys like Gordie Howe, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Nolan Ryan, to name 3 of the most obvious, have shown that the talent can translate.

Give all the men the same level of tech/nutrition and coaching from day one, and I think we'd find that there is a lot of crossover in terms of who succeeds and who fails.
