Given that this seemed to be such a hot topic in the last offseason, I thought it should be revisited in light of how things played out, and that the topic should be given the reverence and importance that it deserves. So.....

OTAs - TB absence thread

That being said, this off-season, I'd like to see Brady in OTA's at least because I think we will almost certainly be breaking in new receivers WHO LIKELY WON'T GET INJURED before the season.

I actually prefer Brady to not attend OTAs. At his age I think the time away is important for his mental health and to stay fresher for year end. Am fine if Gronk does it as well. We may lose a little with new receivers and what not by week 4 or 5 that is all forgotten.

I LOL’d just at the thread title.

I heard someone saying that they should give Gronk BB’s Bavaro-in-Cleveland treatment next year. Basically just show up for the games and this and that, but not the full grind. I’d be OK with that.

He would have tossed 4 TDs if he attended. Defense had to bail his old butt out.:)

Macro picture, it didn't matter because they won the Super Bowl.

Micro picture, I still think it was worthy of criticism and both the offense and the players themselves objectively had major dropoffs from 2019 to 2018 which were overcome by Belichick's greatest coaching year.

Just like we give Brady credit for doing all the little things that others don't, it's fair to be concerned when he cuts back on some of them. Even if it only made a 1% difference, it's still a difference.

Regardless, the day after the Super Bowl it's not something to focus on unless there's a thread directly about it.

It wasn't just skipping OTAs, the team wasted one first round pick on a running back and another on a guy they knew was going to get hurt. Then they lost a game to Miami on a last second TD! The 2018 Patriots are going nowhere!

Yay.....look at me!!!!

I have 20-20 hindsight

It never mattered. It was embarrassing that some people here thought otherwise. It's more embarrassing that you're still trying to claim it mattered.

You should have linked the thread. God that was embarrassing.

Well. It did kill Kenny Britt’s career

When you win, everything was perfect in hindsight. When you lose, it was a fatal and unforgivable mistake. And so often it comes down to a coin toss or the bounce of a ball.

Brady was the poster player of the Patriot way and has been for years ...

So time for someone else to get on the poster.

Other than that we will be fine ... his absence now will not hurt our play this season.

Well said Icy ... my commentary in that thread.

That makes no sense, as written. Could you please clarify?

I can merge them if you wish ... just post your wishes.

I think the link is enough. Most of the people who thought it was the end of the world that Brady was missing 9 hours of face time with the guys are probably going to avoid both threads as if they're plague infected, anyway.

Yep ... like a child with selective hearing ... avoid it ... many will.
