Arguably, all things equal, the greatest defensive effort in super bowl history.

Agreed.

Except for 2 considerably long, low % passes (that were excruciatingly close to being completed), the Rams never were close to threatening the Patriots' endzone, not once. This from a team that was averaging almost 5 TDs per game during the regular season..

Best SB D performance ever by the Patriots, period. The best modern day SB D performance, period. And given the rules strongly favoring the offense compared to the pre modern day era, best SB D performance ever (though this last one could be argued).

Over the years the Patriots' SB D has turned in some bad performances as well as some damn good performances -- 2001 to name one. Tonight this SB was won by the Patriots' D. Loved Jules getting the MVP but the D was the MVP and, IMHO, it's not even close. Insane performance by a D that had its down moments (run D, specifically) during the regular season.

That has to go down as the greatest defensive effort in SB history.
It's the greatest because they *had* to be amazing. Teams like the 85 Bears, 00 Ravens and 02 Bucs had such large cushions that allowed them to tee off on the QB. The Pats had no such luxury. Awesome performance.

Regards,
Chris

Just saw the Jason McCourty breakup on the Cooks endzone pass again, LOVE that he did ZERO showboating and just instantly sprinted back to the LOS. SO happy for that guy right now.

I think I could be classified as an addict now...

Wife: Thats 6 Superbowls! Which one has been your favorite?

Me: The next one

Sitting on my ass eating good food while rooting for the Patriots is an exhausting grind, but i can tough it out for another one... for the good of the team

I bet New Orleans is celebrating our win! Probably saying: "shat we coulda scored more than 3 pts, lmao."

Anyone know if Chung actually broke his arm?

Yeh they are but then again their defense wouldnt not have held the Pats to 13 either.

I hate to admit it, Hasselbeck killing it on BSPN breaking down the TD drive and Jules performance.

We ran the same play on the last 3 passes of the TD drive, Tom masterfully went to the right guy as the Rams adjusted. Great breakdown.

Riddick coming up next
