Super Bowl Menu & Watch Party Thread

Nice post! I'm trying to figure out which timezone is 15.5 hours ahead of EST. Adelaide?
You hit the nail on the head! It's a bit bizarre time zone, I think one of the only few in a world on the 0.5.

So many fans saying they can't watch with a group because they get too stressed! I'm the opposite, I appreciate the social setting of a Superbowl party to keep my stress levels from reaching an unhealthy point. I barely survived the AFCCG watching alone.

Going to my brother's house up in Maine with my kids. A bunch of Pat fans will be there as well as a ton of food, beer and wine. There is really nothing better. Great people, great food and a great time.

I'll be grazing on appetizers and antipasto throughout the afternoon: nachos, pigs in a blanket, mozzarella sticks, buffalo wings, veggies & dip (gotta keep it healthy of course).

As for the game itself? I'll be barricading myself in a small, dark room dominated by the TV and speakers. No human contact outside of texting during commercials, thanks. I'll be a bundle of nerves and watch it standing.

After the game I'll get a 'second wind' -- either rejoin humanity and have a celebratory snack - or - bury my pain in leftovers with phone/TV turned OFF.

The only times I ever personally mix alcohol with football is at home watching the Patriots in either the AFCCG or Super Bowl. I feel like a caged animal -- can't participate same as being at the game live and can't sit still. I often find myself anxiously pacing around and standing in front of the television. I pray this game won't be another nail-biter, it gets damn stressful.

If the Pats are in the Super Bowl we lower the opposing fan tolerance alert to DEFCON 1 and go into lockdown. Only ones allowed in the house are diehard Patriots fans. I simply cannot tolerate opposing fans or even worse football dipshits in my presence during big games.

The first three wins it was me alone with my wife doing her own thing as she is completely oblivious to football. The last two wins I’ve had my 9 year old son by my side and those have been considerably more exciting and involved hysterical jumping up and down.

Picked up the dips and chips today. Probably will get wings or pizza. We like to keep it simple.

We have several lucky shirts available for rotation and my wife’s Patriots logo voodoo symbol is in optimal position on the shelf as it has been the past few weeks. When they win, we don’t dare move it, especially after the Great Christmas Tree Fiasco of 2015 when my wife inadvertently destroyed a potential perfect season.

Oh and the champagne is on ice....

Same as always. Myself, my wife, both kids and champagne on ice. This champagne is leftover from last year; when we get to the Super Bowl I get the champagne and it sits there until we win. The 2014 bottle had been sitting there since 2007.

We do the opposite. I bought one bottle for 2014. In 2016 I had two because it was the 2nd championship my son and I shared together. Last year I bought three and I think I screwed the pooch obviously. Those bottles stayed in my fridge for months. We used two on New Years Eve and popped one off last week after winning the AFCCG because that was just a helluva tough win.

So the slate was wiped clean and this week I bought one bottle.

Breaking out the smoker. Going to make brisket, short ribs, and pork belly burnt ends.

I'm pumped up

Well, as long as you're already going to be smoking....

Smoke some duck, and some salmon, and ship that here.

In the meantime, the current plan isn't certain. It'll likely be some combination of the following:

Carnitas
A dip or two (such as Queso, onion or Buffalo chicken, for example)
Deviled eggs
Wings
Shrimp
Steak tips

and, of course, some smoked duck and smoked salmon.

Honey Hot Wings, Sausage peppers and onions, Pulled pork, queso, bacon wrapped Brussels sprouts and shrimp ****tail. Captain and coke for me. We have a big party but I suck as a host once the game starts because I’m a nervous wreck

Pizza
Irish egg rolls
Cheesesteak egg rolls
Meatball sandwiches
Chips and dip
Wings
Shepherds pie
Beer, wine and mixed drinks
Probably some other stuff

Let’s go!!!!!!!!!

Just a point of interest:

Actual shepherd's pie (lamb), or cowherd's pie (beef)?

shrimp ****tail.

will make some apps- wings, mozz sticks, nachos. No beer until after the game. I don't like doing that. After the game, it will hopefully be beer drinking and champagne spraying.

Watching with my best friend in his theater that we watched the last couple in. I can't watch with someone who doesn't truly care

Yeah, I do NOT have the patience to deal with something like that. People talking during the plays and commenting on the stupid new Geico commercial can do that without my presence. I may honestly end up losing my sh!t if I have to deal with that nonsense. I’ll save that for the years that our team doesn’t participate.

I used to watch games with my wife's uncle, then his daughter started to show up, then her daughters showed up with their children, none gave a crap about football and continually overtalked any game conversation and a were a distraction.. so I quit going there also, with my wife's blessing.. she understood. On those days I watch it alone...

Went to a SB party, not sure which one, and they had a massive set up complete with great food, interestingly enough I was the only one sitting there for about 15 minutes in the second half.. there was quite a bit of distracting talking from the other room.

Since then have only watched the game with one other couple, SB LI, and both were intelligent Pats fans... about a year later they split up after 38 years... so will do it alone with my wife, that works best.

Of course if they are ahead in 4th quarter, she will query, "I do not understand why Brady is still in the game"... but I can deal with that.

We’re continuing our 28 year long tradition of only food that rhymes with the NFC team’s name so we’re eating Lamb, Ham, and Yams.
Trying to imagine what you would be eating if it was the Saints ...

What a guess! I know that India is on the 1/2 hr too but they're behind you.

Nepal is on the 1/4 hr!
