I haven't yet seen the yearly superstition thread so I thought I'd start one up.

I have a lucky Cleveland Browns sweatshirt that I bought at the Pats at Browns game in 2000. Since I misplaced it after the Pats won the SB in 2004 and found it years later after they lost in 2011, the sweatshirt actually has a better playoff record than Tom Brady. I'll have it on for Sunday.

I was at the hospital this morning and I heard a great pre- SB routine. I wasn't even sure if the woman that I regularly see there liked football so I asked her if she was into it.

She went on to tell me that her routine is that she has to go to the movies the day of a Pats SB and watch a movie that's directed by Clint Eastwood. He doesn't have to be in the movie but he has to be the director. She also mentioned that she can't see the movie on TV and has to go to the movies to see it. She'll be at a theater in Woburn to see The Mule the day of the game.

I'd like to hear of anyone else's superstitions and/or lucky charms.

I have an Edelman t-shirt I got about 5 years ago that I wear under whatever I am wearing on game day. Clearly the team owes me and my shirt all the success it has had the last 5 years. I'll be waiting for my ring in the mail.

I have a retro Brady jersey. Pats lost every Super Bowl games when I wore the jersey while watching. Logically I never wear that jersey when Pats play now.

This isn’t a superstition, more of a tradition, but we went to a great Pats sports bar in San Diego in 2014 against the Chargers while visiting my brother.

There was one really energetic guy there who would scream “that’s another New England Patriots...” and the whole bar would yell “first down!” whenever the Pats got a first down. Just like in the stadium.

Well we sort of took that home with us. Now either me or my wife will yell “that’s another New England Patriots...” whenever we get a first down. We’ve done it every game since, on almost every first down. We make any guests do it too who have the misfortune of watching games with us. I’m sure it’s not annoying at all.

I also spike the little fella in my avatar whenever the Pats score a TD. He takes a beating.

I am more superstitious thanks I care to admit. It's ridiculous. Regular season and playoffs, I wear the same thing (change it up when they lose), order the same exact meal of the games they win (change it up when they lose, always have to order before game time). I'll never forget, in 2005, every time I had General Tso's chicken, they won. Those times I wasn't able to order it, they lost. The playoff game vs Denver was the only time it didn't work. And in my insane mind, if I don't do the same things, they definitely lose.

Got Patriot's socks and Patriot's PJs for Christmas (thanks Mom !), and they haven't lost since I started wearing them. Obviously it's the socks, the PJs, and the meals I order, not their great play.

I can't wear any other shirt than my 2001 Ty Law jersey. I couldn't find it for the 2007 SB and wore Mike Vrabel instead. Never again! It took some time for that shirt to get its mojo back! (and we had a little glitch last year, but I blame that on BB and Malcolm Butler). Go Pats!!!

YOU WEAR THOSE PJs ON SUNDAY YOU HEAR ME SCOTT99??

I have been on the road driving or the airport picking someone up or flying somewhere myself. Pats won every time I did that. :D

I actually sent my wife overseas and made sure she came back on SB sunday back in 2014.:D
I traveled last year but wasn't on the road or at an airport last year. That sucked and we lost. I don't have any plans this weekend but I should make up something between now and then.

Was the bar called, "Player's" and located on Clairemont Mesa Blvd.?

For me:

- Every time I pick up a penny, I make sure it isn't heads up then make a wish for the Patriots to win the SB.

- SB outfit: Same underwear I wore throughout the playoffs, unshaven beard Edelman style since week 17, my lucky Pats playoff socks, jeans, Patriots T-shirt, a road white Brady jersey, my lucky SB XLIX slippers, and a red Pat Patriot cap.

- During the game, I wear my cap forward when we are on offense....and tilt the brim backwards when we are on defense. When we play like crap...I keep adjusting the degrees....when we were down 28-3...I wore it upside down and tilted around 270 degrees......whatever works!

- I do 20 push ups for every TD...10 for every FG...and 8 for a safety.

- I also pray to god before every game only asking that my football team leaves everything they have on the field and that there aren't any injuries.

- I also put a jersey on my pup as well....and occasionally hold my cat at critical junctures during the game....he's a big black cat...like a reverse jinx...

I always pick my nose with my right index finger, last year against the Eagles I did it with my left and before I realized it, the game was over! I'm sorry my dudes and dudettes.. duct taping my left hand come Sunday so don't worry.

I don't think that our need for good luck extends to requiring you to not be able to watch the game at home if you want to!

Hmm I forget, but a quick search online suggests that's the case.

I heard that it closed down shortly after I was there, but there might be another location in SD? They had a great buffet out with tons of food, and a larger room for non-Pats games (we dominated the smaller room). The night before I was there, they had a big party where I believe Robert Kraft and Mike Reiss both showed up.

Yep, that was "Player's" for sure.

I was a regular there on game days from 2009-2013 before I went with DirecTV. The smaller room in the front was the best part with two giant projection screens and crowd. They took down the projector screens and put up 40" HDTV's in an effort to push the Pats crowd into the back room where there was a $5 cover. The back room didn't have the same feel...so I stopped going....that and the buffet was making me fat (you sit by the food for 4-6 hours with beer!).

If we’re doing bad at halftime. New shirt

That's awesome! You may remember the guy I'm talking about...African American, was wearing these odd white gloves (might have been football gloves but looked a little like Mickey Mouse gloves too), really friendly and energetic, seemed like a regular. He did the first down cheer and also had a few other good ones ("You don't smoke the Blount, the Blount smokes you!")

That bar was awesome in spite of those changes you mentioned. If it were near me I'd go every week. We have a decent one in the Bay Area called the Connecticut Yankee but too tough to get there each week.

Every superstition I've had in the past has failed me at some point.

Don't believe in superstition at all.

The trend, however, is that when my wife is pregnant, we win. Last year I told her she was going to cause a loss, so this year we're doing our duty. ;)
What if Pats make superbowl next two years? :D
