Passing of the tourch.

Any chance Mahomes or anybody else in his position take a hint from how Tom Brady has dealt with his salary and the ability to build a team around him? Seems like TB12 has set quite a precedent that would be hard to ignore.

Probably not.

I hope not.

This cost the superbowl, we all know it. Mahomes > Brady
Doesn't your angst have more to do with Dee Ford than this strange fantasy world you've conjured around Brady and Mahoney?

Going to the super Bowl never gets old.
That's coming from a rational Pats fan.

WOO HOO!!!
See ya Chief

Look I hope you guys do well, in fact I think a lot of KC fans are wanting you to win with all of the primadonnas on the rams. I should of titled this different so that was my bad. My point is if you took that game and switched QB's and everything else stayed the same the Pats win by 10 plus easy. I do think Tom in on the backside of his career and its easy to see but Hoodie does a good job of adjusting the offense how he needs to keep it rolling along.

Torch being passed was just the phrase everyone used leading up and to that game. I do feel like most of America that he isn't the greatest this year but it does not matter because his culmination of work makes him the greatest ever.

If you switched the QBs, the Pats would have been blown out. Mahomes couldn't do ANYTHING in the first half while Brady was surgical. Plus Mahomes run around and chuck would fail miserably with Dorsett and Hogan as his deep threats.

Last time Brady had weapons comparable to the Chiefs was 07...

Again it takes a full team and great coaching to win a superbowl, one player does not make or break a season. Lets look at Bradys first season as a starter vs Mahomes… Yards, Brady 2,843, Mahomes 5,097, TD's Brady 18, Mahomes 50, INT Brady 12, Mahomes 12.... guys not even close….
You forgot one stat from each player's first season as a starter.... Super Bowl Championships: Brady 1, Mahomes 0. Maybe someday you'll learn that the greatest QBs are the greatest QBs because of their championships, not their regular season stats. Deep down you know it. And deep down you'd trade every single one of those TD's to be where we are right now. And it hurts you. The jealously. The sadness. It hurts you so bad.

But hey congratulations on all those touchdowns, bro.

Your treating Brady like its a individual sport not a team sport. If brady was drafted by the dolphins, or bills or countless other teams he would still be good but not physically good enough to win the big one. He was lucky enough to be paired with the best head coach ever. That was his golden ticket.
You accuse me of treating Brady like an individual when your entire argument is based on Mahomes’ individual stats?

You can’t have your cake and eat it, pal.

You still place statistics over winning - and while Brady has obviously been blessed with better coaching, he’s typically had less to work with on offence over the years (certainly compared to the Chiefs this season or Peyton’s Colts back in the day) - but he still delivers victories.

That is why he is still the better QB, particularly in clutch situations. The last 3 NE drives for TDs last week only reiterates that point yet again.

You need to understand what makes a great QB before you can argue about who’s better. It’s clear that you don’t have that capability.

Aaron Rodgers >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>OneTrick Mahoney

At least Cam Newton made it to a Super Bowl...Maphoney? Not so much..

The good news? Magloryboy re-energized a moribund franchise and invigorated an already loyal fanbase(fifty years of zipola? THAT is gold medal worthy)...

The bad news? Tough act to follow going into next season. All the teams have plenty of tape on Maslomes now. It's obvious that the strategy is to keep him in the pocket, where he's a run of the mill QB and limit the breakouts...and left handed throws...and the no look "look at me!!!" grandstanding plays. At some point next season, he'll be gloryboy showboating and get hit with a blindside that knocks the snot out of him. Reid better make sure he drills thousands of pocket reps for Maplumes and keeps all his shiny little toys on offense.

I have faith in KC's ability, (meaning Cluck Hunt's), to mangle a sure thing .

We are still validating this kid despite it being clear he doesn't understand basic football concepts and is probably a teenager? Let's ditch this thread and focus on the upcoming game, ya know, the annual game the Pats play in February.

Why stress about a game we have a chance to lose when we can continually bask in the glory of the last victory, and even better, take advantage of this blank check to gloat over Brady? This clown is allowing us to, without any restraint, brag about TB12 without holding back in the least; it's like taking out all your anger on a punching bag. Rational Chiefs Fan is every hater lurking on the internet, for all we care.

That's why, @Dorito Dink

JFC this guy doesn't care about any of your arguments, he's going back to Chef Planetoid and bragging about how he is able to troll here for 25 pages and we are all clueless.

Shut this MF down, he likes to get butt f*ked.

Not sure if your being serious or not....
If he is, there's no point in paying any attention to him at all. If he isn't, he's a garden variety troll.

you are an insane lying POS jerkoff...YOU just gave ME a "dislike" on a previous post. I have NEVER given you any ratings ever. YOU are a troll. Plain and simple and NOW I'm hacked off.

Ban this idiotic troll. Either that or it's Joe Kerr Nuclear Option time and I know you mods don't want to see THAT.
I do!!

And it's also not sustainable to hold together this incredible Chiefs offensive group - not when Mahomes gets that huge extension.

This is an incredibly insightful point. What ELSE makes Brady great? What he does OFF the field to better ensure a winning franchise. He continually took less money, leading to the "middle class" depth of the patriots roster. He frequently won the workout/off season participation parking spot. Until he hit 40 years old, he was at every voluntary workout.

While physical tools will get you very, very far in the NFL - the elite, particularly at quarterback, must mix those with qualities and traits that make the entire team around them better too.

That's where the future for Mahomes beyond just flinging the ball to some very good and currently cheap offensive talent is yet to be written.

(and by the way yes, I too am concerned about Tommy John surgery risk given the way he torques the elbow in his uncharacteristic throwing motion).

After his $200M deal and I see Mahomes win with guys like Austin Collie at 57 years old, washed up Chad Johnson, Aaron Dobson, Tim Wright, Tiquon Underwood, Bethel Johnson, Kenbrell Thompkins, etc c'mon back and we can have this discussion with actual context.

Otherwise you're just Ms Cleo charging people $1.99 a minute for predictions that have no relevance.

I thought he was going to pass the torch to Matt Ryan, both Mannings, Ben Rothlisberger, Drew Brees, that smurf in Seattle, and at one point Michael Vick.

Chief fan buddy... a great year is a great year, and Mahomes looks like exactly what you wish he was. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait a few years to know whether you're just reacting to a great year, whether Mahomes is what he looks like (a Brees-like talent who can put up unbelievable numbers on the regular,) or something like a pale reflection of what you just saw, a Tom Fing Brady.

The odds of him being something other than Brady-like are very heavy. This is because there has never been anything approaching Brady to date. The SF version of Montana was the closest thing, but you know what? Pats fans would be bored with all those non-SB years.

Just a few years ago the GOAT conversation had narrowed to Brady vs. Montana. Brady has put the memory of his boyhood idol into the background by now.

You think the Chiefs are going to be in the Super Bowl 50% of the time that Mahomes is in the league?

See, this "passing the torch" thing just ain't gonna happen -- and if it does, we'll only know in 15 years.

I will give you this: Mahomes looks like the real deal. Root for them to keep him in the pocket at all times. Running QBs break. Root for them to beat scheme with scheme and rely on his arm to do the rest. Root for him to get into the building before everybody else, every day, to watch film and work with coaches to improve pocket presence/awareness. He's got raw tools. He's got great instincts. He played way ahead of everybody else this season.

Root against complacency.

Then he'll have a fractional shot at this "passing the torch" you'd like to see.

Frankly though, when the day does come when TFB hangs them up, I'm not sure the torch gets passed. You'll just see its refracted light slowly dim with the years, glinting off the thousands of diamond facets adorning the hand that holds it.

Mahomes is avg.

One trick pony player

Pros

Big Arm

Cons

Accuracy VERY Bad
Pre Snap = Andy Reid (Can not ready D very well. Coach does all the work)
Pocket Presence NONE

Not as talented as Favre but he has a big army and have a better coach so fewer TO.
