Pats vs. Rams Superbowl pre-game analysis

Today’s Talib is not the Talib of 2013-16. He’s lost a step. And Marcus Peters just kind of sucks.
Peters really is a headcase. I think they put Robey-Coleman on Edelman, but would love for them to put Peters on him. Edelman would eat his lunch, get in his head, and probably bait him into an unsportsman-like penalty.

I thought KC was stupid for trading him but I think Peters is pretty clearly not the CB he used to be. Talib, while not the same as he was in Denver, is still a solid, physical CB. They don't have the ponies at LB or Safety to match Gronk so wouldn't doubt that we see Talib on Gronk (also see the link i posted about the Rams giving up a ton of yardage to TEs). Let's hope he doesn't do a Tony Gonzalez type performance back in Atlanta (Talib was so good back then).

Why the tackle and not the guard? Because it's an "under" front. The guard has to stay in, otherwise his man has a clean path to the QB.

Peters is the most overrated cb in the league.
He's not top 10, not even top 20.
JC Jackson is a better cb than Peters. Hell, it's an insult to JC to even be compared with Peters.

I would like to see the stats with Talib and without.
I know the Eagles dropped 30 on them a few weeks ago and Talib played in that game and while they didn't, both the Cowboys and Saints were a couple of plays from putting 30 on them.

Also 2 of those games they gave up 0 and 9 points to the Cardinals, who were by far the worst offense in the league

@PP2 and team looking at the "POWER VS UNDER FRONT" diagrams you posted (thanks btw) do you believe Trent Brown can pull and make those plays? How has done "pulling" during the season? The first few times this is attempted, the DE/LB should get pancaked *IF* Mr. Brown has he athleticism to get there quickly.

I know the temptation is to play Cooks like we played Hill, and that was the my initial thought, but I think I would play more straight up man initially allowing for another man in the box. Cooks is good but he's not Hill. Goff is good but he's not Mahomes. However the Rams' running game worries me more than the Chiefs'. Understanding that we'll play varied defenses throughout, I think my "base" would be 3 CB on 3 WR, Chung on the TE and a 7 man box vs the run or to rush when it's a pass.

I’m partial to this plan described here as well

The problem with doubling Cooks is you lose a lot man in the box. OK against Damien Williams, less OK against the Rams (or Kareem Hunt when the Chiefs had him). It will be interesting to see what Bill does, I'd try to help against the run.

important to point out that even though the Rams have athletes on their D line, they've sacrificed paying all of these good players for depth. They do not have alot of depth at the position. By using the power run game throughout the first half, we can tire out Donald and Suh so by the time Brady needs to air it out, its too late and theyre so winded they wont be able to touch him.

He's more than capable- he has the speed and quickness to do it. That being said, I don't see him doing it more than a few times because he gets gassed faster than the rest of the line. That responsibility is likely to be shared with the TE's and Devlin out of (for example) the HB position
