Going to the Super Bowl

It seems like we can’t play a complete game in the super bowl. The last time it happened was super bowl 36 and they almost came back

Say 2 people going

You can drive cheap avoiding car rental and dealing with airlines.

I just booked a hotel for 6 days @ $500 total. $250 each in your case. Bring a grill and cooler and save on bars and restaurants. Tickets are the cost.

I am 30 minutes from the Falcons stadium. I’m considering it... maybe I’ll go to that meetup in Atlanta for the first time ever

They have 3 locations but I believe that Sandys Springs is main hang out.

I can't believe we won....I mean right??....I can't handle cheering for this team, it is not good for my health...but I am going down with the ship baby!!

The timing is real tough for me. If it were just a couple years later I think I could make it happen. My worry is that once Brady leaves, if it’s a long time before we make it back, it’ll be a huge regret for me that I never went

FWIW, I lived in New Orleans when Super Bowl 36 was played there. I didn't have cable tv then (so I only got info from the national "pundits" off the internet, which wasn't too much). However, ALL of the local media guys said the same thing - "It's going to be a Super Blowout for the Rams!". It was as if I was listening to a broken record.

I was rooting for the Rams - however, the Pats were slowly impressing me, that I started to root for them at game's end. (Even John Madden pointed out how the Superdome crowd was slowly favoring the Pats as the game went along)

Average ticket price right now is just under $5200 ...
I think I heard last years price ended up averaging $5400 ...

Nose bleeds are around $3,700 give or take. Waiting for the SO to get home so we can talk about going. Only thing that’s making me hesitate is that, aside from 2010 in Miami, I seem to be a bad luck charm whenever I see them in person. Right, @Tunescribe?

I don't remember -- have you ever seen them win in person? If not, we might have to put you under house arrest in two weeks.

If this is true and you go and they lose I'm driving to Florida and I'm putting your head through a car window.

It's always been a dream to go to a super bowl once in my life. I have the feeling that now is THE chance to do it. The Pats are in it and you never know when this incredible dynastic run suddenly ends, Brady is in his twilight, its gonna be Gronks last game. I work for an airline and get cheap flights to Atlanta from Germany on short notice, I already made a hotel reservation a couple months ago about a 30min drive from atlanta, I have a rental car reservation - the only thing I need is a ticket to the game. Also this year I have a couple days off, I dont have children yet (so spare money to spend:)), will get a huge bonus at work. I dont want to regret some day not going.
I just hope I dont get screwed somehow. If I can afford those 3 grant tickets I dont want them get revoked by stubhub or primesports (has anybody experience with primesports.com?) a day before the game. I dont want to get to the hotel and suddenly they are overbooked. "Sorry". I dont want to arrive at the airport and they dont have any rental cars left. "But I have a reservation!"-"Nah, its the super bowl. Sorry dude."

Brady is not losing this one.

Can't you figure out some way to swing it?

You're dead on. So many things have to go right to even get to a Super Bowl and someday you will regret not going. It's more than just the game. Biggest sporting event other than the world cup.

Yup, I agree.

Probably no way to swing it unfortunately. I’m a senior in college starting work next year, and do anticipate being able to splurge for something like this a year or two down the road. Just don’t think it would be smart/realistic to do now. Hopefully this isn’t the last one.

Very interesting idea to fly into a different place and rent the car from there. Will certainly explore that option too. Thanks!

I've used Birmingham that way once, when needing to get to Atlanta, had some time to kill, and wanted to see the countryside a bit.

Everyone should keep in mind how horrific and unpredictable Atlanta traffic can be. Staying 90 minutes away on a Google map could easily turn into 3 hours away, or worse. Its like Boston area traffic, but three times the distances, and twice the unpredictability. Just a factor to keep in mind when scheming all this.

And another thing - my son in law is from Atlanta and his brothers still can't talk about their SB loss to the Pats. There may be a bit of hostility in the general populace towards us. In other words, make sure to pack your 28-3 T shirt and wear a helmet.

Thank you!

Never been to Atlanta.

Though I don't have tickets to the game, wanted to show my support to our team as they have now made it a practice of going to the SB every year. So, booked the flights and hotel!

This is going to a fun trip to soak in the atmosphere and be with the Patsfans.

Hotel is about 30 miles north-east of the stadium and I will have e car.

Will keep your useful tips in mind as I plan my travel both on the game day and on the return to the airport.

If I can make the trip for $10k or less, I’m going. Need to do it on 2 tickets, though.
You can EASILY go to the SB for under $10k for two people.
Game Tickets, I expect will be $2500-$3000 once next week rolls around. Hotel, rental car, airfare can easily be done for around $500 as long as you are willing to stay about 50 miles outside the city and not expect 5 star lodging.
