John Simon (linebacker) - Wikipedia

He's got to be the least talked about regular on the team. I don't even see him in the locker room videos.

Is this another Belichickian Jedi Mind Trick?

Seriously, does anyone have an analysis of his work thus far?

As the Wiki says he came thru the HOU system under Vrabes and RAC. Big guy. Good vs the run. Sets the edge. Can get to the passer a bit. Knows the scheme.

Was hurt during the middle of the year but clearly the coaching staff likes him.

Once of those "who?" but is part of the cog.

He is this year's KVN - best mid season FA pick up. Unfortunately UFA after the season.
Been posting about him in re-watch & pre-watch threads all week. Predicted he would outsnap Clayborn.. ;) He outplayed him by a mile all season & on min contract.

Great edge setter, good rusher, good in space, core special teamer - one of the guys Id love if they bring back - but his price got up significantly over the last two games and might outprice himself out of NE in SBLIII...

So many times the recognition comes too late..

He was an undersized defensive tackle in high school and college, so he lost weight in the NFL and became more of a utility player instead of trying to get bigger than his body could handle. It seems to have given him a pretty good feel for leverage and hand usage. As others have said, he's a strong run defender, but has some pass rush ability as well. He can also be an advantage inside on certain downs in terms of the pass rush.

Surprised to find:

On March 10, 2017, the Indianapolis Colts signed Simon to a three-year, $13.5 million contract.

From Ohio State Propaganda.. a real work out warrior, no wonder BB liked him.

I remember that.

I had thought the Colts liked him. Was surprised that they had cut him.

I was very confused when he remained a FA for so long. Can understand Indy moving on because of a scheme change, but that's all it was...he was playing well before being cut.
