On February 3rd 2002 a young 24 year old QB Named Thomas Edward Brady took a team that was expected to be at the bottom of the AFC East to the Super Bowl which they ended up winning vs the team called The Rams as Adam Vinatieri's kick sailed thru the uprights.

During the next 16 years after that win, this Brady guy took the team to multiple AFC East division titles one after the other and made multiple Super Bowls winning 4 more of them.

As Brady goes into his 41st year of his life,he once again is taking a Patriots team to the Super Bowl, once again that date is February 3 and once again that opposing team ironically is The Rams again.

While Brady has nothing to prove as he is clearly the best quarterback to ever live and we will probably never see another of his caliber in this sport or any for that matter, one has to imagine the distinct possibility that if he wins this one and his 6th ring he may potentially decide to retire while on top and knowing he has distanced himself so far from the other athletes in this sport that he will never be challenged as the G.O.A.T. probably as far ahead as one can see.

While Brady continues to deny retirement is coming soon he may decide in the offseason to spend time with his wife and children more often as they grow up so quick and decide go out into the sunset as champion.

Whatever he decides we as Patriots fans will never see an athlete of this level for the rest of our lives....go Brady and get that 6th and if you decide to hang up those cleats Patriots Nation will stand behind you and love you as we have for almost 2 decades.

You’re gonna get lectured for trying to rush Brady to retire before he’s actually lost his ability.

Can we not just acknowledge how perfect of a way it would be to end Brady’s career though? Nothing beats going out on one’s own terms like that.

Against the same team where the dynasty all started.

If they win, given that Gronk is leaving and Edelman is likely a year or two away from following suit I can see it starting to get tempting.

But then, in that scenario, there's always Stairway to Seven to lure him into staying...

hes got to think about it sooner or later...i think when you have nothing to prove to anyone and more money then you ever could want you are down to family and your kids with more time to spend with them or to continue a sport that no one will ever beat you at and even if you love it- its probably time while the kids are still very young.

I told my wife numerous times this year that if they win it all and he gets #6 hes probably going to be full time dad....we will see

No one wants Brady to go out like Peyton Manning who clearly lost his level of talent in his final years - I want to see him go out with a bang and for everyone to say he's as good or better at 41 then he ever was in his 20s - sone athletes play too long until they just look mediocre and almost embarrassing distant from when they were once elite...I hope we never see that with Tom even though his stats this year were not as good as normal but hes still elite as we saw tonight.

Fair thread, but I hope this narrative doesn’t overtake the real story of the 2018 team going to the SB again for the next two weeks.

Brady is not retiring regardless of SB53’s outcome. Brady is wired differently than most people. He wouldn’t “go out on top” because he has no fear that he won’t win another one the next season. He’s been saying for years that he wants to play to age 45.

True. But Giselle has not endorsed that statement. There have been some hints she may not be totally on board with it.

Brady is smart enough to know the truth of that old adage “happy wife, happy life”.

And she is the top wage earner in the household.

People don't get it.

Brady doesn't have a number in mind. He just wants "more"

He will drive and drive and drive for "more" until his body gives out on him.

Brady doesn't care about a "storybook" ending, he is not wired like anyone else who has ever played the position. He has nothing else to prove yet still is the hungriest guy on field.

I would like to announce my retirement from posting. I don’t believe I will ever reach a greater accomplishment here.

Brady has been saying for years that he plans to play until at least 45. He's 41 now. He will be 42 next year.

If you really think this is the ending, prepare to watch him in another uniform. He's not going out because people think it's some clean way to end his career. Athletes aren't built like that. They spend their whole lives pushing themselves and sacraficing a comfortable life to achieve something in their sport. They want to push themselves to the end until they can't go anymore or lose all drive. They don't want to retire with what if's.

A guy like Tom Brady wouldn't be able to live with himself if he retired and had to spend the rest of his life thinking, "maybe I could have played 3 more years, maybe I could have won 1 or 2 more". They are warriors. They like to expend everything and go out on their shields knowing its done.

I remember John Elway's last game at Mile High (1998 AFCCG) - he didn't announce his retirement at the time, but he went around doing the victory lap at the stadium after the game.

Brady isn't going anywhere for awhile.

Bradys been by far the best QB in the playoffs. He's still the man has a lot left in the tank. Arm as strong as ever, his pocket prescense still elite and his mind best in the game. I say another 3 years

Doubt he retires. Gronk may be nearing tge end but Tb and Edelman look to have at least another 1-2 years at a top level. I mean Edelman has been better in the last two games than hes maybe ever been. He has a dominant run game where a rookie rb will only improve and the defense may be a couple dl away from being elite with 6 picks in the first 3 rounds. Imo, brady still has probably 2 years left in this championship window. No way he will want to stop when he is likely in position to add another ring.

Brady is gonna retire the way manning did.

When his arm is falling the **** off.

I think it's Gronk not Brady who will be riding off into the sunset after this game. Maybe I was reading too much into it but Edelman at his post game press conference (paraphrasing) that it was great to see Gronk out their competing again. There was just something about his tone that suggested for one final ride. Again just my interpretation of what he said but I think we've all seen in the passing game he's not what he was.

First TE to go for over a thousand career receiving yards in the playoffs. I would love him to go off one final time in the SB and be the first to win the MVP. That guy has been a beast and is the GOAT of TEs. Gonzalez has the better volume stats but never showed up in the playoffs and couldn't block Vernon Gholston.

Even in that case, he’d still likely have another couple of years due to his ability to use his pre-snap adjustments and underneath stuff to help hide any physical deficiencies.
