I think im over it. Next 3 games are very winnable, especially the last 2. 12-4, most likely we are hosting the texans in round 2 while sd and kc battle it out. Wouldn’t be too upset about that.

Something interesting (and I’m sure it’s obvious) but I have seen nothing from any Patriot player on social media since the loss.

Crickets.

Have to imagine this loss hit the team hard.

I think I anticipated all along that this was a potential loss.

It’s really all about the fashion of which we lost which will eat at me for a while.

Yea its frustrating, on the bright side its not a playoff game and we live to fight another day. Something like that ending a season would be excruciating . Ask New Orleans

Belichick's defenses and his coaching at the end of games:

Important games:

SuperBowl 36: TD allowed with 90 seconds left, 55 yards in 21 seconds
SuperBowl 38: TD allowed with 68 seconds left, 80 yards in 1:43 minute.
SuperBowl 39: TD allowed with 1:50 left, 80 yards in 4 minutes, a double digit lead cut to 3 points.
SuperBowl 42: TD allowed with 35 seconds left, 83 yards in 2 minutes
SuperBowl 46: TD allowed with 58 seconds left, 88 yards in 3 minutes
SuperBowl 52: TD allowed with 2:21 left, 75 yards in 7 minutes

SuperBowl 51: First play on last drive, Devonta Freeman wide open for 35 yards, no one near him. Falcons in easy field goal range, gift the ball back instead of doing anything but what they did. Three kneel downs or three runs win the game.

SuperBowl 49: First play of last drive, Lynch wide open for 30 yards. Seahawks come within 1 yard and Butler makes a historic play/Seahawks make a horrible decision to throw in traffic needing a yard.

AFCCG 2006: TD allowed with 1 minute left, 81 yard with in 2 minutes

AFCCG 2011: Last drive Ravens march without any issue to the Pats 13 yard line, then drop a game winning pass/miss a 32 yard field goal.

2015 Week 16 Pats need a win to secure homefield vs Jets: First drive in OT, TD allowed, 80 yards in 2 minutes

2017 Week 15 ''winner gets homefield in the playoffs game'': Juju Smith Schuster makes a 69 yard run and the Steelers lose because their TE decides to make a stupid play instead of securing the catch/Ben throws a stupid Int with a secured field goal.

Peculiar finishes:

2007 vs Ravens undefeated season on the line, Hail Mary caught, but stopped a yard from TD.

2018 vs Bears, Hail Mary caught but stopped a yard from TD.

And today's new addition, the longest game winning TD in modern NFL history.

Without some appalling mistakes and drops from our opponents, who gave up sure fire field goals into sacks and interceptions, and Brady making a game winning or game leading drive in every single SB, our history would be very different. Our end of game defenses have been thoroughly outplayed and outcoached in the Brady/Belichick era.

It doesn't matter whether it's a HoF QB or your run of the mill Mark Sanchez, Nick Foles or Ryan Tanehill, with the game on the line, we rely on dumb luck/coaching to close out games.

This may be the most accurately disturbing post I have ever read on this forum.

Here's the difference between the Giants super bowl teams and ours right now: The Giants' super bowl pass rush personnel had ELITE playmakers, one of whom is in the HOF and the other is STILL making plays even with a messed up hand.

The difference between those super bowl pass rush was that they NEVER disappeared in the big moments. Justin Tuck, Jason Pierre-Paul, Osi Umenyiora, and Michael Strahan were best at getting right into Brady's face and making him super uncomfortable in the pocket.

Was at the game sitting right in the end-zone where Drake scored the game winner.
I just got back.
I don't understand what the h*ll Gronk was doing out there as safety on that last play. Did they really think Tannehill was going to throw a 70 yard hail Mary into the end zone? Why the f*ck didn't they have someone who could tackle out there instead of Gronk?
I personally got to see Gronk lose his footing as Drake was coming right at me toward the endzone.
I am so pissed!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I think that'll be a good thing in the long run, might just needed that type of smack in face to really get rolling. I see a no bs attitude going forward.

Hail Mary defense with Gronk . ... From 70 yards away..?

oops. Hook and ladder defense maybe..

Any coach with half a brain knows Tannehill couldn't get it close to the endzone. They should have known it would be a gimmick play

I think this could either break this team down, or make them absolutely flip a switch.

Hope it’s the latter. Maybe this was needed.

Change subject. Too painful. Ouchy..

Game was entertaining. Lots of good plays.

Well...hogan was wide open on the play before the brady sack. Brady flat missed him.
Brady pansied and turned his shoulder away from the throw... He thought he was going to get hit and he turtled and threw way sooner than he had to

How do we compare thus loss to the battle of Harper's Muff?

@luuked I don’t think most people are putting this loss entirely on the defense. The offense clearly threw away some opportunities and were completely punchless in the second half. I would look at it more that the offense and defense both played well enough to put the team in a 99.9% likelihood of winning (but not 100%, as neither played to the level we think they could have). The last play should be considered more of a specialized play. I personally don’t put it on the defense. I put it on Belichick and/or Flores. It was basically a special teams type of situational play. But this is a conservatively a win 99 times out of 100 prior to that disaster. The defense played well in the second half and stopped the Dolphins when they needed to...until that personnel/strategy meltdown.

Hence my first post of this thread: This game was lost at some point or another by almost every part of the team. Whether thats Defense, Offense, or Ghost, Brady and, finally, Coaching.

Wanting to point something out on the last play. Jc Jackson took what I think was a terrible angle. He should have peeled back and ran downfield, allowing more yardage to be gained but preventing Drake from getting behind him. In a situation like that, all that matters is preventing the TD. He took himself out of the play.
I said this 10 pages back, he should have ended it right thete.

What's the relavance? Were not going to play the giants in the playoffs.
