Report: McD showing interest in Packers Job

I will be interested to see how Rogers does with his next HC, whomever that may be. I just don't think he's all that, and all this, "the chance to coach him is a once in a lifetime opportunity,,," schtick makes me laugh. Really? He just got the last guy run out of town on a rail, and other than winning one SB quite a few years ago now, he hasn't done much (except roll his eyes when things don't go his way). There's more to being a great QB than being able to run outside the pocket and sling it, which in my mind is pretty much his only talent. Now he's older and more beat up. As I said, it will be interesting to see.

"A handful of NFL assistant coaches have indicated interest in joining a McDaniels-led coaching staff in Green Bay, according to sources who spoke to Yahoo Sports on Sunday."

yeah... solid.

Amazing isn't it? Some assistants start to plan for a possible move to fill spots that are vacant in GB and that means that McDaniels is making plans to go there. And some Pats fans buy the "reports" hook, line and sinker.

Just as I stated in the Gronk thread, I'll believe that Josh is going to GB when I see him there. Not because some Yahoo yahoo says so.

well, one thing for sure...Felcher and Squeaky Mouserotti will be clamoring about GB and McD every day from here on out

Rodgers grew up with the West Coast offense. I'd be shocked if they brought in another coach with a brand new system to learn.

Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy fits the Green Bay WCO much better than Josh, and has done a great job with Mahomes.

Im sure Rodgers could adapt to Mcdaniels offense.

It's logical that GB wants to turn things around as quickly as possible with as many of the existing players staying without getting into a rebuild, and possibly a lost year to adjusting.

It would be similar to asking a 35 year old TB12 to pick up a totally new offense with all new terminology, when there were other choices that could run the same Patriots style offense with a new face and fresh ideas about personnel packages and receiver groupings without tearing the whole existing thing down.

Josh turned down the chance to coach 29 year old Andrew Luck. I don't think he's salivating at the chance to coach 35 year old Rodgers.

Nobody knew if Luck would return they may have the most annoying owner in the NFL.
Plus the organization ran the Patriots thru the mud.
Its not close the Packers job is way more attractive.
Except Ballard seems to of nailed his draft Luck is 100 percent again and they have a ton of cap.
He maybe kicking hinself for it.

Chris Carter mentioned today in his show that Josh really made a deal with Kraft to take over after BB as we all imagined at the time of his extension but I think CC has connections in the NFL to say that with more security.

What connection does Carter have to the Patriots?

Maybe he suffers from some psychological defect that compels him to join an organization with an overpaid primadonna QB who will sabotage his tenure as a head coach if he fails to do as he commands. He had it in Denver. Green Bay is shaping up nicely.

There are better places for Josh. Green Bay really isn't attractive considering the massive amount of money they gave to Rodgers.
  1. Patriots: Belichick is probably retiring after another year or two. Three max. Massachusetts has good schools. Josh's wife likes the area. Why move? Just wait until Belichick retires.
  2. Panthers: If Rivera gets fired, this is a great spot to be. Cam Newton is in the middle of his prime, Carolina has very good skill position players for the most part. Much easier to build compared to Green Bay's mess.
  3. Browns: Young, talented Baker Mayfield + cap space to do whatever.
All three places are much more preferably compared to Green Bay's mess. Maybe more spots will open up on Black Monday (Jags? Lions? Bengals?).

Wow, didn’t know Rodgers was so disliked by some of his teammates. Googled it and Jermichael Finley and Greg Jennings really didnt like the guy. Donald Driver seemed evasive when answering. Not surprised their comments didn’t make a lot of waves considering the NFL was desperately wanting him to succeed the always declining Brady<didn’t happen and Manning<who eventually did.

I'd say zero chance McDaniels has an actual interest in that job. It would be an even worse situation than Denver. At least McDaniels had some power in Denver. In GB he won't have any power because it's still gonna be Ted Thompson's disciples running the show and then there is the Rodgers issues

Maybe Rodgers wants to be a player coach since he wants to run it his way. He’d have no one to blame but himself if he fails but then again there’s always Max, SAS and mediots* to spin it in his favor and blame someone else.

He can't go soon enough. Lost that 2nd super bowl against the giants.

I don't see it. Anyways I'm rooting for 4-11-1 And a high draft pick.
