Gronk is my all time favorite Patriot, but I can’t help but wonder if he will be a Patriot in 2019.

I want him to be a Patriot next year, but instead of a raise, they may ask him to take a pay cut which may lead to retirement or Gronk being cut. He already threatened retirement when they wanted to trade him to the Lions for a first round pick.

Gronk currently has a 12 million dollar cap hit in 2019, with 10 million in savings if cut or traded.

Will Belichick let Gronk play for that number? As we all know Belichick does not pay for past performance.

I hope the find common ground and maybe reduce his cap number while giving him a chance to earn it and maybe more in performance incentives.

If Gronk does not believe he is slipping, hopefully he would take it.

I would hate to see Gronk cut & then sign with another team.

What do you guys think?

I think we should worry about this when the seasons over.

Not unless his play improves dramatically into December and January. He reportedly wants a raise and they won't be giving him one at this rate.

Isn't Gronk officially on the Books in 2019 or is that an option year??

So I think Gronk is on the Books for $9Mill next year I can live with that.

I trust Miguel’s numbers.

Miguel's UNOFFICIAL 2016 Patriots Salary Cap Information Page

12 Million Cap hit
10 Million in savings, if cut or traded.

Thanks I don't see the Pats cutting him or asking him to restructure at that Tag for a year. There are others such as *Ahem* DMac and Hightower. This Offense depends on the TE position and the Pats have nothing or no one in place after Gronk. Also the Draft doesn't look particularly Strong at that Position. I would keep him for a year and Draft the position in consecutive years and hope.

He’ll retire unless they overpay him which they won’t. So no.

I doubt it really. Ten mill in savings!

We could hire a lot of running backs with that cash. We should get at least six lol

Oh I think he’s done after this year. It’s getting tougher and tougher for him to stay healthy.

The 9 mil is in non guaranteed salary which is a loophole for the team to get out of the contract. A lot of these NFL contracts are back loaded in the final years with money the player usually never sees. Gronk knows that if wants to stay that he and agent will be called down to 1 Foxboro Drive for discussions on reducing his take home pay.

he is gone. no chance in hell he's back. the only way he could return is if he's willing to take a significant pay cut. he's not getting a raise that's for sure.

I think his body language going forward will speak louder to me than what he actually says. As of right now, I think he retires but teams will call the Pats to try to swing a trade and convince him to come out of retirement.

He had a nice game yesterday. A fresh Gronk from here on out will be a nightmare for teams when the games really count.

I don't think he'll return. Having said that : that second round pick was a steal. Despite multiple injuries, Gronk was a force and helped NE in so so many games.

If he retires, I wish him nothing but the best - he is (was, if retiring) most def an alltimer.

For 10m (the cap savings), you won't find a better play in free agency
