I'm seeing people saying last night (Rams-Chiefs) was an awesome game. It sucked

It was a fun game. Those saying it sucked because of the offenses most likely would be thrilled if we were that explosive.

What sucked was the overall lack of D in that game. If you're the Rams with all that cash tied up in your D you have to be shaking your damn head looking at that game tape.

Way back in 03-04, the Colts and Chiefs lined up for a shootout in the AFC Divisional game. I don't think either team punted, with the Colts winning 38-31.

Meanwhile, the Patriots and Titans fought it out in the Ice Bowl...17-14 Pats, a field-position, defensive struggle.

I watched the other game shaking my head. Awful football. I feared that was the future of the league when the rule-changes started after the Pats then beat Lord Peyton the following week.

Now I find myself longing for the days when 38-31 was a high-scoring shootout.

I'm becoming utterly uninterested in the product the NFL is putting out.I don't find it particularly exciting to see Tyreke Hill running 80 yards untouched after those cheap little rub-slant plays.

When it's once in a while, it's exciting. When it's every damned drive, it's boring. The rules need to shift back to make defense something more than having four guys scrambling to kill...oops, I mean tickle, a QB within 2 seconds.
Seahawks 27 Packers 24

Bears 25 Vikings 20

Steelers 20 Jaguars 16

Cowboys 22 Falcons 19

Lions 20 Panthers 19

Ravens 24 Bengals 21

Texans 23 Redskins 21

Raiders 23 Cardinals 21

Broncos 23 Chargers 22

Am I missing something here?

I expected more from professional NFL defensive players.
Why did you, when professional NFL defensive players have their hands this close to being literally tied behind their backs?

Meanwhile, Next Big Hope QBs stand and/or run around, with impunity, looking to chuck another Long Ball which we all know the chicks (& the Suits) dig, with the expectation that those entitled punk QBs will be awarded yet another Defensive Pass Interference or Roughing The QB hankie, if not both; and faux-brave WRs are getting away with Offensive Pass Interference on nearly every play, yet are the first ones to cry for a hankie from the nice old men in striped shirts if one of those mean, nasty brutes from the other team dares touch them.

This game, and the Commissioner who controls it, has become a feckin Joke.

A classic they say?

I didn’t hate the game because of lack of defense. I hated this game because of the gushing over two qbs who can’t quit turning the ball over

If both teams has used a balanced offense and committed more to the run all game, we would have had a lot fewer possessions and ended up with a 37-34 type thriller.

But why run the ball when NFL rules make an elite passing game virtually unstoppable? You could but that seems to admit that you want to shorten the game and are scared of the other offense. It seems to be a source of pride to outscore the other guy, no matter what. I can't blame them, rules being what they are.

the same people complaining about the lack of defense are the people that would come in here during the game day thread where the patriots are locked in a 13-13 tie heading into the final minute of the game and complain that the patriots suck and they don't have enough offense and that the game was terrible.

I call bull on that one. I remember when punting was strategic, field position was important, and I wasn't HAPPY when the chiefs scored on one play in the 4th Quarter against the Patriots because I knew they couldn't stop Brady from finishing the game.

If it was one team - like the '07 Pats, or the Colts, or the '01 Rams, I'd marvel at the innovations and great QB play or WR play, but we've got college QBs still wet behind the ears throwing up 300-400 every game. It's the Chiefs and the Chargers and the Rams and the Saints and the Steelers and...

It's absurd. It's like baseball when four guys are chasing the all-time HR record because of steroids. It's like perimeter basketball. It's like widening the net four inches in hockey. Start helping out the defensive backs again. If I want to watch track and field, I'll...well, scratch that. I don't want to watch track and field.

Sure, you wouldn't want EVERY game this way, but come on! This game was a blast to watch! Back and forth... big offensive plays, big defensive plays... you never felt like either team had it put away.

I don't get this board sometimes. But, fortunately, the holidays are almost here...

I'm already preparing my list of grievances. ;)

These two teams are amazing on the offensive side of the ball, even with good defenses it would have been similar. Though the defenses did make big plays. Great game. Mahomes is going to be great.

When I have no feelings whatsoever for either of the teams in the outcome(maybe except for a KC loss helping NE long shot of home field) the game was entertaining. In fact, it may have exposed some of the weaknesses of both teams going forward and while everyone is giddy about a superbowl rematch of this game, my homer gut tells me we will see two other teams in the superbowl.

I actually watched the game, because I wanted to see how Californians used it to deal with their fire problems. That part was great. The game went back and forth. That part was interesting enough on its own, because the two teams are at the top of their respective conferences.

The game play itself, though, was dog ****. It was bad arena football.

You had two of the best offenses in the league taking on two of the worst defenses in the league. This was an extreme, but not surprising, result.

I thought the game was immensely entertaining and exposed both defenses, as neither QB looked particularly sharp.

And any Chiefs loss is a good game in my book.

What sucked was the overall lack of D in that game. If you're the Rams with all that cash tied up in your D you have to be shaking your damn head looking at that game tape.

The rams had 5 turn overs, two turned into touchdowns, 3 sacks and a win against the other best offense in the league.

The chiefs are a shoot out team, much like the 2007 patriots. Score as many points as possible and hope the other team can't keep up.

This game was just like the game against the patriots earlier this season, the only difference is the turnovers led to more points, instead of punts.

Now this is a criticism I can understand and support

It showed us where the league is going, unfortunately. The only way to really play defense, if you can call it that, is to get to the QB. You can't defend at all downfield, and you can only sort of tackle, but the offensive players can take all kinds of liberties with physical play. Football's going the way of offense in baseball, with the equivalent of it becoming pretty much all strikeout/home run.
