B.G.C. 2019 NFL Draft/Patriot-Type Players Thread

Ben does a great job & is a great follow. Don't forget about that swat perfectly timed w the Long Arm!! What a rush.

QB Steven Montez. We can get him late and build him up. Great size and arm strength, watches alot of film and gets better every year.

Josh Allen from Kentucky is like watching Willie Mac - he’s probably more of a speed rusher compared to Willie but I’d love to have him here. Cannot see him landing here but would be unreal to see him

He should be a top 20 pick in the draft, but I would love it if he fell to us!

I like Montez but his flaws are too much to warrant a pick before 4-5 rn. Him & Costello are guys I'd take a shot on in the mid rounds but if I'm the Pats I'm focusing on D/OL all over. Get a TE or 2. Same for WR if you can there will be no shortage of them between 2-4.

Jordan Love is someone I've had a crush this year & I think it'll only grow. 25/4 ratio I believe. 65% cmp. Footwork, mostly his steps, could be cleaned up a bit but he's pretty clean.

Has that arm talent, man, does he display the 3 biggies. Touch, Accuracy & Placement. Can easily touch all 3 levels. Very smooth.

He's only a SO so he's eligible next year which is a good thing considering we have to really build up the team save QB. Brady will be here at least next year so we can focus on everything thing this year imo.

I love where he's taken his game. He's really improved everywhere & I don't think that's being dramatic. Seems a bit more efficient getting to the QB & has been a difference maker along the line. He's definitely improved his hands & strength. You see that quick twitch burst where he'll shed or toss someone with ease. Again his ability to dip/get flexible w fewer steps is noticable imo.

It's a defensive draft but teams w offensive needs will over-draft guys like they do every year.

Daniel Jones stock is increasing & will only continue to as the draft approaches. He's shown enough for QB-needy teams to take a shot in the first.

He's the type that would get overlooked if Herbert & Haskins declared but not now.

He looked like he was run over by a bus last game & at times this year. Sometimes his fault for not recognizing or responding to pressure. Sometimes his team.

I'm hoping he comes back bc it's more important to be ready but he can play for sure.

Zach Allen continues to show why he'll be a top 5-10 PTP. I'd love to see him Flowers & Wise on the field at the same time. All big boys w tons of length & fight.

Again though he's a fantastic run defender & can absolutely get after the QB. He's improved each year & still has upside. I've mentioned a few times his body is a work in progress, in a good way & he has the frame/build to be a beast. He's nowhere as athletic as JJ Watt or maybe even a Michael Bennett but his versatility, strength & motor remind me of such players.

Hockenson looks like a Kittle-clone. He has room to grow both physically & is already a beast of blocker. Dude just doesn't stop moving his feet & does a vg job at playing w leverage throughout his block. If he test well & I think he will you grab him. Hell double dip outta Fant, Smith & Hockenson & we have a great combo for the next 4-5 years.

Minshew is definitely someone that intrigues me Rd 4+. He's very smart. Beaten the odds this far when discounted out many times. Such a calm, chill QB w that quick release & almost flawless mechanics at times. I've mentioned him before but he's been so consistent this year. Again as pretty as mechanics as you'll see.

Andy Isabella is another guy we will almost certainly have some ties too I believe. Can't see him going early. Maybe udfa but the guy is so smooth & quick. His body control running routes is tremendous. Small guy but worth a shot late.

My biggest thing I like about him is his ability to drop into coverage and look so comfortable but he’s a monster against the run and rush

For me personally I have him above Bosa, mainly due to the scheme fit and what I feel he could do for us.

If anyone has any guys that are worth looking at let me know.

I normally use draft breakdown to work through my prospects but obviously that’s no more. So if anyone has any ideas for something like that would be much appreciated

Yea I've mentioned that he's put some really nice stretches together of coverage, pass rushing & run game. His first step is much improved but his 2nd & 3rd are now lightening & are quick enough to kill 3 steps. Another thing I keep bringing up is his path to the QB. It's been a lot shorter & efficient. Him & Polite are getting inside/underneath & just killing dudes all year. Both might be OLB in the pros but they have grown man power. Especially Polite.
In terms of coverage Ive been impressed w Allen's ability to shutdown any angles or would be lanes on the outside. Curious if he could be that hook defender as well as covering the flat.

I'd recommend just going through this thread tbh. You'll be up to date & further along than most after reading it. I'll keep it going until the draft but should be starting reports on Rush players this week/end.

Sweat from miss state had a monster game against Alabama. He seems like the kind of edge rusher we desperately need.

However I am all in on Jaylon Ferguson had our future edge rusher.

Been loving Sweat for a while but not entirely sure he makes PTP.

When playing w leverage he's a very capable run defender on the edge but I'm not certain he's a 2 gap player rn. He's smart, has the ability to diagnose. Has + chase/pursuit off the backside w his length & strides. I've seen him moved off the los too often though. He's naturally tall, lanky, high cut which hurts him there & when it comes to bend/flexibility around the arc.

He definitely has room to add weight.

Anyone that hasn't watched him should. He's so fun & crafty.

Guys that fit our type
Z Allen, A Nelson, J Jelks, Hollins, Zuniga, Kareem, A Robinson, C Rector, J Jackson, Nick Coe, J Brailford, Hayes, Omenihu, Ledbetter
