Patrick Peterson Wants Out of Arizona

Why in the world would Arizona do that?
For the draft pick and to get a player back. Might cost a little more via pick if we ask then to eat a little $. Or we could make the player worth it to them. Rowe for example would at least give them a corner back who has started. They probably would prefer JC or Crossen but that probably isn't enough $.

We aren't talking about a huge amount of $ based on Miguel's article we were pretty close to having enough.

Another team might be able to offer the pick without Zona needing to take something back and then we'd lose out but if we offer the best pick or we are the only offer they would have plenty incentive to eat a little salary.

BTW - can we afford to trade for him?His salary cap (11,11,12) for three years is rather out of our range. Or maybe Pats can do some magic tricks to sign him.

Not sure where you get your numbers.

The amount remaining on Peterson's contract for this year is 5.83M
His contract for next year carries a cap hit of 11.25M
His contract for 2020 carries a cap hit of 12.55M

The only "trick" the Patriots would need to do is convert some of this year's salary into a signing bonus so that the remainder is carried as amortization. I believe (though I'm not 100%) that they could convert 3.9M of Peterson's remaining salary into a SB and that would reduce the cap hit to 2.53M It would raise the next two years by 1.3M each. That is still well within the limits that they could afford. Especially when you consider that th4ey were willing to pay Butler nearly the same as they were paying Gilmore.

The only defense that scares me off the top of my head is Jacksonville.

Jacksonville hung a loss on us fair & square.
Since that game, they have fell on hard times.
Could they rebound and make a strong playoff run?
Maybe...

Peterson is under contract through 2020. Why would he need to sign a "long term" deal?

Sorry thought he was a free agent after this year

Saints out of the race for P Peterson more than likely. Eagles and Pats now.

Having a Strong Back-End of Gilmore and Peterson would give Clayborne all the time in world. Clayborne could run his patented two miles away from the QB:rolleyes: and Back and still get a Sack credited to the coverage.:D

Eli Apple to Saints. To me that means they are out. We have a real shot at him. We should get him. We need s secondary to buy as much time as possible for the rush. We are getting pressure but an extra second or two can mean worlds of difference

Zolak is “saying” that the Pats are pursuing him.

How reliable is he? Didn’t he say Pats we’re gonna trade for a big named WR?

Exactly we have been close but that's the difference between making a play and getting burnt.
