Sony Michel Injury (update: Expected to Play Week 10 vs Titans)

One thing I think about as far as precedence, RB Frank Gore’s knees were way worse coming out of college than Michel’s, and look at HIS career. So even if Michel is gone for the year (I pray he’s not), doesn’t mean he can’t have a great career.

He got helmet taps, helmet taps doesn't mean see you next week or in a few weeks after that.Helmet taps means work hard on recuperation and see you next year.I've seen it with Lewis,Gronk and Edelman really hope I'm wrong and that someone is preparing a dish of
crow for me.

Hoping that it’s just a MCL sprain, and that he comes back later in the year. It seems as though there is a lot of concern though, not to mention his knee injury history.

Good thing we have an early Bye week against the helpless Bills. Hope it's not season ending but it looks bad.

Feel terrible for Michel but sadly this is not an unexpected outcome. MANY of us had real reservations about drafting a RB in the 1st round, nevermind a RB with KNEE problems and we said so at the time. This team had/has glaring holes on defense and those needs were not addressed with those 1st round draft choices.
Not a second guess at all, Sony Michel was a VERY DUMB pick considering where in the draft you picked him Bill.

One could argue that we should have drafted Darius Leonard. He's having a wonderful rookie season over in Indy, and went about 5 picks later.

It's not like he was walking and had a ACL. Sony Michel just got his leg twisted the way legs aren't supposed to be twisted, that can happen to anyone. Doesn't matter. Dude is a beast. I hope it's not the worst. Gronk against Broncos a couple of years ago, everybody was saying he was done and it was a bone bruise.

He's a pro athlete and can get the artificial meniscus impant that's trying to hit the market. The cut out all the old meniscus and pop in a soft gel plastic disc that literally just slides into the normal gap and your good. Whether it can allow him to play sports is another story.

I've actually been waiting (hoping) for something like this for my own knee. My orthopedic doctor passed away around the time I was supposed to get a new knee so I've put it off for a couple of years. With all of the horror stories I've heard about new knees I decided that mine isn't bad enough to take that risk.

I'm not an NYFL running back though. Here's hoping that Michel makes a full recovery no matter how that happens.

So, what do we blame more for this injury? The bad turf at Soldier Field or tacklers bringing him down like that?

Actually there’s a percentage spread over three facts. 1. It was 70 percent the tackle done on purpose. 2. 20 percent soldier field sux. 3. 10 percent on negative luck. And a mystery axiom being a bit too close to Ohio’s boarder

Gore and McGahee were both expected to be short term players and both stayed effective into their 30s, Gore with a HOF career

I only hope at least is not a season ending injury...

He had a very good beginning...

Dai Sony !!! Non mollare !!!

I'm 99% sure Pass had a cramp and didn't just abandon the ball, he aggressively threw it at the ground so he could grab at his owie. It really goes along with the stuff in one of the Pats books from the early 2000s where the coaches thought Pass was the type of guy to try to avoid playing if he had a hang nail.

I'm not big on criticizing players who are doing something physically I could never do, but I'd say I'll give Michel a pass because that was brutal looking.

Maybe some former coach had that opinion of Pass, but apparently Belichick liked having him around. Pass has 3 SB rings to prove it.

Are you arguing with yourself on this one? o_O

So your argument is because Michel got hurt we should have drafted someone else??

Interesting, as Michel has been just the 6th best RB in the NFL.

Know the feeling. I'll eventually need a replacement on my left after dislocating my patella which caused cartilage damage back in December which led to surgery in March of this year. I had a meniscus injury too that healed on it's own thankfully but did lots of research on the subject. The implant has only been used a few times in the States as a trial but I believe it is approved over in Europe for quite some time now. They literally just clean out the old cartilage completely and the disc pops in place. They don't even have to attach it with anything as it's a natural channel. I'm not sure how active one can be in terms of running but it should be more than adequate for cycling, walking and swimming.
