He tore his Achilles tendon on December 10th, but he must feel that he's close to playing now.
It seems that CB is the Only position where we have anything even closely resembling quality - if unproven - depth, so I don't see him being invited here for a workout.

Crazy that he signed for the vet minimum last week. Wasn’t expecting that.

Phillips made some strong plays against the Patriots last year. I am surprised they let him go. Attitude issues? Seems odd timing.

No. His remaining salary should only slightly affect Pats cap.
Plus there's always enough “hidden cap space“ Pats can easily create if needed..
