Tidbits from new book on Belichick

Some crazy stuff in this ESPN article, which features tidbits from the book by Ian O’Conner.

More of the same stuff extrapolated. BB also did the the mona lisa vito monologue defending the QB. That week after the AFCCG was crazy and everyone on the team was thrown in a loop suddenly not know what to react. To read anything from it crazy.
The author wrote a book about BB interviewing 350 people except BB himself . Clearly trying to cash in on all the storylines and dramatics.

These are all previously published accounts, or at least the runors have surfaced before via some reasonably established newspapers, websites, and blogs, probably from the same sources as the book, whatever that’s worth. The Deflategate thing doesn’t make a lot of sense because Belichick, if you recall, decided to run his own science experiment when confronted with the report; in addition he was duped like the rest of us with fake PSI numbers. As for Spygate, it did happen and can’t be denied; the overwhelming question is how big of an advantage was gained from it. Belichick admitted it was true from day one.

And by the way, the author of the book is this guy

Ian O’Connor is the ABSOLUTE WORST sportswriter in America. He is such a hack. Not just saying this because of the book; I’ve said this for a long time. The guy is the master of the obvious and going along with the kneejerk mainstream opinion about every issue. He’s incredibly shallow, hypocritical and unimaginative. I think he needs another front page ESPN article telling us how Tiger Woods continues to “win” while embarrassingly choking away leads on every Sunday major, as he’s done about five of those in a row.

Now that I know the author, I’m quite sure he didn’t even interview the supposed original sources. This is just a Greatest Hits (or Misses, who really knows or cares since it’s ESPN and not journalism) Of Patriots Clickbait.

Well, there sure seemed to be an awful lot of guys willing to throw Bill under the bus going all the way back to the Giants.

"I don't know whose idea that was to put it in the Hall of Fame," Parcells said. "If anything should be in the Hall of Fame, it should be [offensive coordinator] Ron Erhardt's game plan. We had the ball for 40 minutes and some seconds. That takes work, consistent play. We were only on defense for 19 minutes. To me, we had a good game plan against them. It was well thought out, a couple of things we did, the two-man lines in that game. But I'm not diminishing anything. I'm just telling you. I don't know how that happened. I'm not knocking anyone here."

Ah I see that clearly this new book doesn't pull any punches when it comes to the most agonizing issues in Belichick's career, such as which piece of paper should be in the Hall of Fame.

This kind of **** makes me long for the day that BB does his own autobiography.

Well, this is Ian O'Connor, so large grains of salt have to be taken. However...

I wouldn't dismiss the "BB 'didn't believe' Brady" one out of hand.

Remember BB's initial "well, you'll have to ask Brady about the balls" response when it first broke. Didn't try to defend Brady at all. To this day I think that in the first couple of days BB didn't believe/trust Brady and wasn't willing to put himself on the line by saying anything like "Tom would never do anything like this", especially because if he did say something like that and it turned out Brady had done something, Goodell would use it to crucify him.

Then after the first day or two I'm sure Patricia (and maybe also Cam Fleming who was an aero/astro from Stanford) told him about the IGL and there was probably some big powwow leading to the Mona Lisa Vito press conference.

Now, the "Brady thought Spygate was 'likely true'" is dumb because BB never denied the filming so of course it was true (in the sense that the Pats had been filming teams). Or is O'Connor saying that Brady thinks Tomase's story was "likely true"?

When deflategate happened Goodell thought he finally had his arch nemesis, BB, and could finally ditch him. The situation gained so much steam he had to proceed...

Never got the impression the week after the game that BB threw #12 under the bus, if anything he gave an honest answer that he did not know about any of this.. which is probably true.

O'Connor writes a book and allegedly contacts 350 people and haters get a hard on?? When the time comes BB will write the definitive book with a very good sports writer and the truth will be told...
