You have contributed much more to this board than I have, so I will immodestly agree with you.

Please don’t tell anyone how proud I am of this.
If my memory serves me correctly we were interested in the beast. And you said sign the beast.

I am not sure if started it but I’ve been on it since 2009 or so since I was living in east China and had nothing better to do.

Put me in the patjew started it camp

Pretty sure that's how it happened

Hogan and Dorsett will be very limited.
You don’t have rapport in January because you had it in September. If 10+ targets a game are going to Gordon the offense will suffer a major setback if he flakes. If it’s going to happen I hope it happens early so we have time to prepare for the playoffs.
Dorsett will be limited...Hogan will benefit big time as teams will be focusing on stopping Gordon, Jules, Gronk. I can see Hogan burning defenses as he flies past their #3 CBs

Are we concerned about rapport being developed between Brady and Patterson here?

I'm not.

Edelman
Hogan (though Dorsett may pass him by the end of the season)
Dorsett
Patterson

will just shift down one, to

Edelman (or Gordon)
Gordon (or Edelman)
Hogan (though Dorsett may pass him by the end of the season)
Dorsett
Patterson

Since Patterson isn't really a "pure" receiver, for N.E. purposes, I don't see this as a problem. Patterson can still get reps, even as the WR5, because of the Brady/McDaniels penchant for occasional trickery.

I think that’s right.

If I am right, I think that beast was Julius Peppers.

Hmmm

This should be interesting

I assume Bill believes that Flash can play a hybrid safety role allowing the team actually cover opposing crossing routes

In addition to playing Randy Moss

Really trying to hope for the best and expect nothing. It’s a weird balance to seek.

I'm not.

Stop getting me so excited!

There is almost no scenario where I think the risk comes close to the reward.

At worst, he plays 10 games, produces nothing numbers wise, but rolls coverage away from the focal points of this offense. And you have him as an RFA next year.

At best, he gives you 2013 and its lighting in a bottle.

Anything above worst from my comfortable desk chair if worth rolling the dice on 30-40 slots in the third day of the draft....even more so when TB12 is 41.

Gordon is 6'3 225 lbs and runs like a deer. If he is 85% the guy he was in 2013, he is still going to be a very productive player for New England.

Brady gets a tall deep threat back in the offense. The last time he did that, he set some records on offense.

Honestly I am super excited thinking about what Gordon can do in this offense. :D

I'm sure BB and McDaniels will study Gordon's game and put him in the best position to succeed early. But he better bring it hard in practice. Gotta make an impact in practices if you want to play on game day in New England's system. It's all about earning your way.

Hopefully Gordon realizes this is his last big chance to revive his career and takes full advantage of it. This is the perfect situation for him to win AND restore his reputation. That means even if he doesn't stay in New England he can get a big payday in the future, as long as he doesn't screw this up, stays sober, and finally capitalizes on his tantalizing talent.

Avoided Pats news today - someone had to text me about this.

If this works out, and I'm really unsure how big of an "if" that is, oh boy...

Haven't been this (cautiously) excited in a long time. Watch his highlights, the guy has a damn good football IQ.

Great signing for both parties. We needed help and he needs help. Even if he doesn’t pan out but still able to get the help he needs here, it’s still a win.
