The Josh Gordon Thread: Pats Officially Acquire Gordon for Fifth-Round Pick

Not surprising to see the media saying this move won’t make a difference. It’s not shocking because he went to the patriots. These idiots fail to reliaze he hasn’t been on the field for almost four years since the suspension in 2014.

I like the move as it helps...but I don't think we will be seeing 2013 Gordon ever again.

Ummm why not? The guy has fresh legs. Guy has missed 4 years of football. He’s 27. 10 months ago he was timed 4.3 in the Cleveland browns training camp. He still can fly.

Hell yes, that makes me happy.

You don't know that... but while you're at it tell us all about our futures please. Did I win the latest Power Ball?? :)

Bill Simmons tweets, “ugh.” Wasn’t there a time once when he wasn’t lame, or am I remembering that wrong.
Bill's podcast today with Cousin Sal talked about who could help the Pats at WR and on Gordon he said something like, "Might as well light the money on fire." He'll talk himself into this. You watch.

Regards,
Chris

Brandon Weeden, Jason Campbell, Deshone Kizer, Tyrod Taylor and 1 TD from Brian Hoyer..... Those were the guys throwing passes to Gordon and he put up numbers with those guys throwing to him,, no wonder his catch percentage was so low...
He will think he's in heaven w TFB throwing to him...
Maybe he just wanted to get out of Cleveland... and a change of scenery will do him good...

Got my jersey! #LFG!!!!

I don’t know if he will play right away but the guy doesn’t have a limited route tree. He can run all different types of route.

This is a good move by the Patriots. You can think it won't work out and be skeptical. I think we are all skeptical that he can keep himself on the field.

But for a 5th rounder? This is a no brainer for a team that desperately needs a legit #1 or #2 receiver to go along with Edelman.

I'm sorry I don't get anyone who isn't willing to at least give it a shot, especially after yesterday's game.

Seriously, anyone who feels the need to complain about a 5th round or later pick for an NFL starter (let alone a potential generational talent) needs to look up the past 5 or so drafts and count the number of NFL starters who get drafted in the 5th-7th rounds. Hint, it's so tiny it's not even worth remarking upon. There really is a huge drop-off from the 4th to the 5th.

Do Squirrels and Goats count?

Jk

It's not like this is idle speculation, he outright said in his GQ interview that he had an opiate addiction.

Mixing codeine with soda is very popular in some areas, especially his hometown of Houston. While multiple time per day, everyday prolonged use can cause some withdrawal symptoms (for codeine, which is minor compared to “real” opiates), I don’t know if I’d refer to him as having an actual opiate issue. It sounds more of a bad habit/cultural type of thing.

He did admit to the Xanax use since middle school, though, and we already know about the weed and alcohol stuff.

This move could have a huge upside. I wonder if BB and Nick spoke to Hoyer before making the deal.

Remember some posters telling us there is no way Belichick would ever sign him?

Belichick is going to sign players if he thinks they will help us on the field provided it is at a low risk.

Wow so if the 42 targets Gordon had last year only 19 were catchable and he fought 18 of 19 catchable balls. That’s embarrassing for the qb
