The Josh Gordon Thread: Pats Officially Acquire Gordon for Fifth-Round Pick

Weed is often a gateway drug. I would be surprised if he hasn't graduated to harder stuff by now. 90% of the league smokes weed. They don't have the issues he does. Something is wrong.

The ONLY reason weed is known as a "gateway drug" is because, until recently, in order to get weed, you had to break the law and with someone who supplies drugs.

There is nothing in weed that makes you crave anything stronger - and I say this as someone who doesn't even like weed or any drugs, save the occasional wine or bourbon.

We’ve got to limit our expectations, here. It was a 5th round pick. Bill could’ve used a 5th on any number of bums today and no one would have really cared.

Gordon may/may not work out. In the meantime, it takes some of the sting away from yesterday, and helps to alleviate some concerns with lack of talent at the position. Fingers crossed on this one.

My fear is that we retool the offense with him as a major piece and then in the eve of a playoff game he gots off the reservation.
We would be worse off than never having him if that were the case.

I am willing to take that risk.

The OP said Gordon would likely be inactive for 2 games...hence 12 games left...

Giving Gordon 2 games to acclimate, "learn the playbook" and "develop a rapport with Brady" would be logical, rational and typical of the way the Pats do things.

IOW, Gordon will probably start Sunday in Detroit and MattyP will sh it a brick.

Yeah, I had a Barrett Robbins scenario pop in my head.

Regards,
Chris

It takes pressure off a guy like hogan. I expect him to benefit a lot from this move.

The whole gateway drug thing is, uh, very wrong, but Gordon has issues beyond weed. He's had a number of issues due to alcohol consumption before, which is far more concerning (especially because he's been booked for DUI), and the fact he's got all those issues together suggests it may even be more than that. Most stoners don't actually drink all that much.

I thought the same thing. Malcolm Butler reverse.

I would assume Josh has gone through some kind of testing for a behavioral imbalance.

I would think (and hope) BB would have plan for that. Moss worked out.
Hayneworth(less), not so much.

It's just the thought of another Moss type player gives me goose bumps.

I would love to have it work out. Destroy the league.

Yeah, "weed is a gateway drug" is a bad reason to be alarmed, because that's just not true.

The fact that he's openly acknowledged his addiction to xanax and codeine, OTOH... yeah, that's cause for alarm. It's not like this is idle speculation, he outright said in his GQ interview that he had an opiate addiction.

what a waste of a 5th rd pick. so stupid. somebody needs to drug test the patriots front office.
I knew someone would ***** about a conditional 5th for a potential gramebreaking WR.

You need more sunshine in your life....or troll somewhere else.
