The Josh Gordon Thread: Pats Officially Acquire Gordon for Fifth-Round Pick

Mingo was a very good STer here.
Yeah but I don't think that's what people were hoping for. I'm pretty sure Lombardi tried to spin it off on his pod that it wasn't his fault Mingo sucked in Cleveland (and in general) lol which may or may not be true.

We have a crazy amount of picks. If we absolutely must go that high, I'd do it. We've given up more and received less in the past (Didn't Derrick Burgess cost us a third lol?).
Burgess wasn't one strike away from the NFL version of the Phantom Zone.

Gronk - Gordon and Edelman you can't Double all of them and you are doomed in Man or Zone coverage.

Mike Lombardi is all about Mike Lombardi.

I'd give as high as a third for him..

I would be very mad if they gave that much for him. If it was a Corey Dillion situation then sure. But we don't even know how good this guy will be even if he manages to keep his head on straight. He was amazing years ago but how much of that does he still have at this point after being out of football for so long.

Even if he plays for the Pats the entire year I don't think we will see the all world Josh Gordon he was back in 2013.

My guard is up and my expectations aren't high even if we get him (closer to Michael Floyd than Randy Moss, given the lack of an offseason/preseason with us), but goddamn it's just exceptionally rare to have a shot at this kind of talent.

Even if he excels here I'd still be extremely wary about keeping him around long term, but whatever that can be next year's problem that I'm happy for the Pats to deal with next year, since it already requires that he be good enough this year for it to even be a consideration.

As far as what he's worth, I'd be pretty bummed if the Pats gave up anything more than a 5th. In the 3-4 range, the Pats hit reliably enough on line talent in that range that it would feel like giving up a very real asset for a one-year flyer on a guy who in a six year career has only really shown up for one of them.

Is he one legarette blount away from like a year or two outta the league? Sounds like Browns don't want to send him here, maybe a third is a bit much, but I'll pay a premium to make it happen. Does anyone know if he's known as a highish IQ player? He seems like a good route runner when I've seen him play.

The best ability is availability. What are the chances this guy makes it through the season without getting arrested/suspended/both?

i wish we had him yesterday but whatever...

Two thoughts:

Al Davis wanted Kevin O'Connell for Burgess, which would have been fine if he didn't also want Mt. Vollmer.

Second, /r/NFL on Reddit is going into full meltdown. It's glorious. :D
