d%#*!@t Burk! I’m trying to keep the forum from disrespecKIN Da Burkmeister, but you’re making it awfully difficult on me :(

I think comparing the Houston game to this is a little off...yeh Houston ran well...but NE was focused on the QB not killing them in the run game. Not as much to worry about with Jax, but the defense for Jax is better for sure. I dont think the pats will be able to run against Jax regardless of who plays. Protection for Brady and WR’s getting open are the keys....going to be a tough game for NE to win. Miami after that is no cake walk.

Was looking at my race schedule and got the weeks messed up.

This is off topic... But wassup with the tag on photos and videos.???? Get rid of the stuff please. You want my fave pic in your face on every post.? Um no you don't..

I think the pats would love to make a statement early. The jags have been the sexy pick to reach the super bowl. Our defense should keep them under 21 if they play well. If we give up more than 24 points i will be surprise.

167 rushing yards and 4,9 YPR against Houston is far away from being ok. There were some good plays in that aspect but if we think of winning with Jax it has to change. Running game with Fournette (who is much better than Miller ) and screen passes are trademarks of Jags. I am not worried about our offense because Brady will find holes in Jags' defense. What concerns me most is yards given on the ground.

We will defend Jax differently than we defend Houston

Yes.. that is part of the challenge every week since a defense cannot be
predictable. . It will be interesting to see Flores continue to expand his feel for the games and play to play adjustments. The player rotations and personnel packages get more stressed if Jax goes no huddle for example.

the NFL admitted a mistake in whistling the Myles Jack scoop and score prematurely.

The NFL admitted a mistake in calling him down, bit the scoop and score wouldn't have happened either way. A Patriot lineman (Solder?) was mere feet away from Jack and would have easily touched him down if the whistle hadn't blown.

Context. How'd they run in the first half when the game was close? How consistent was Houston this time? How much effort did they put into Houston's passing and QB scrambling?

You simply cannot trot out totals from one game - a week one game at that - as if they translate to the next.

My post was just about one game where our defense against running game was mediocre.Totals are reflection of how oir defense played against running game during the entire game. You like it or not it is just a fact.If that aspect of our defense steps up I will be glad.So far it has been the weakest point of our defense.

I think our offense can move the ball on their D - maybe not easily but it’s doable. Odell had over 100 yards receiving with Eli throwing him the ball, and Barkley had a pretty solid day with over 100 yards rushing.

Please make Bortles go No Huddle for extended periods of the game. Pretty please.

The more I look at this game the more I find it hard to see how any team moves the ball. If the Pats had Edelman it would be a different story as he add another layer to our offense.

People have pointed out we did most of our damage last year after Gronk went down. Much of that was due to the catches and penalties Cook forced.

Cook, Amendola, Dorsett, Hogan, White, Lewis to me is better than Gronk, Dorsett, Hogan, White, ???, ???

Patterson might gives us a few yards but it won't be much.

When I look at how the Pats match up vs the Jags I don't see anything we can hope to do well besides pass to White.

Gronk can fight through Texans double team but not a Jags double team. Either Hogan or Dorsett will be taken away completely by their other CB pretty much. So it comes down to Brady moving them down the field with one of those WRs and White all game. Unless the Jags are dumb enough to give Gronk a fair amount of true 1v1 chances. Add in their pass rush and I don't see this offense being able to do much no matter how well Brady plays.

When it comes to their offense I think this D is better equipped to handle it than last year. They are a run first team. Having Hightower back along with the emergence of Bentley can't be understated for this game. Add in Shelton hopefully having a good game and the DE depth being better. This front 7 is leaps and bounds better than last year. I hated our LBs last year of Van Noy/Roberts/M. Flower. Now we have Hightower/Van Noy/Bentley. While losing Butler hurts Jones has shown he is capable and really hasn't missed a beat so far. It is hard for me to say the DB situation looks much different than in did in last years AFCCG until I see proof of that.

If our pass rush can get pressure on Bortles he can potentially be forced into mistakes, but their OL is pretty good.

I don't see either team scoring over 20 points. Which is why both probably will haha.

Again, "so far" is one game. A game in which they got a big lead, put tons of effort into containing the quarterback and clearly encouraged Houston to run.

Can we say that was less than ideal, particularly by the sub defense? Sure. Can we project how NE will do against another offense with entirely different defensive objectives? No, not really. One game with that many mitigating factors just isn't enough data.
