Dez Bryant Calls Tom Brady His "Favorite Player" On Instagram, Fuels More Rumors

Not necessarily. They could bring in WRs from similar offenses (Houston, for example) that would be able to pick it up without having to be in TC.

Yes, although nobody on this board seems to be able to match up "similar offenses" with "high quality player" with "likely to be available."

what a dumb thing to say, BB will never sign him now ;)

I still don't know how this dude isn't signed. He's starting the season at 29 and in his prime still. Played with bad QB last few years. Sure he's got locker room issues sometimes but we've dealt with worse imo. Sign this beast to our lackluster wr group please. It's a no brainer and would make our offense better.

As a former QB... Throwing to bigger recievers is better. Especially on deep throws. My thought is running Dez and Patterson deep at the same time , the entire middle of field will be gronks , Hogan's domain . Or you toss deep with higher percentage of completion with big guys competing for football .

Having 2 big guys on the outside is good. Why not try this if favorable contract and tryout can be obtained...?

Hell that this point I would settle for a regular quality player in that receiving corps. I think Cobb can pick up this offense rather quickly though. It just depends on what Green Bay would want in terms of compensation. Unfortunately, I think we're going to go into the season with this MASH unit at WR and count on three things happening: 1) Brady to work his magic again to cover up for those personnel deficiencies, 2) Edelman to stay healthy all season, and 3) Gronk to stay healthy all season. #1 is a surefire bet. #2 and #3 are not, unfortunately.

If Gronk somehow manages to stay healthy all year deep into the playoffs back to back years then whatever the hell he's doing with Guerrero is working

That might have been why Belichick let Guerrero back on the plane.

The key to this issue is whether mcD is happy with his options currently since there is talent at rb, te, and wr, just not the same as last year but ok. Depth like Decker, Patterson Dorsett. Lucien. seems adequate as long as they get with the offense and Brady. This may not be obvious until week 1 since vanilla offense rules the preseason.

The other issue is contract ,tryout, etc . Since belichick is all about value. Bringing guy in this late into camp is also not ideal.

Tall slow receivers don’t get open.

Guys who aren’t smart enough to know the offense are a waste of time.

Guys who are such a train wreck off the field that you need to hire chaperones are more trouble than they are worth.

But tall is good.

It wouldn’t hurt to bring him in and really there is little risk involved if it doesn’t work out. B.B. should know from film if it’s even worth pursuing though:

But you waste the time that could be better spent with receivers who would be here.

What are you suggesting they bring him in for?
A tryout?
A roster spot? If you bring him in at this point it’s either all in to get him ready for the season (which detracts from other players preparation) or accepting he won’t be able to play until October, IF he can learn the offense.
Either seems like a waste of time. Winning teams tend to not waste their time on things like that.

A tryout to see if it works. I think B.B. and Mc.D will know if a wr has enough acumen and talent to help this offense just from a workout.

Waste of time. Look what happened to Britt. That was a big waste of time there. Then there are all the other wrs we have brought in and let go because it didn’t work out. We have to keep trying and maybe someone will work. I’m not just talking about Dez either. I’m my opinion though I think we are good at wr. I think Patterson and our 2nd year TE will surprise all of us.

So a football IQ test? I think he would fail.

A player sustaining an injury isn’t a waste of time.
Bryant has many issues that will make him a waste of time.
I too think we will be fine at WR.

I don’t think Dez would be a good fit either but bringing him in and making sure he wasn’t means doing a thorough job. I haven’t watched him play but he’s only 29. The only time I’ve really payed attention to him was during those McCourty and Dez threads that used to litter these boards.

You know B.B. will hang onto a player as long as they have value, no matter how hurt they are. Britt was just a perimeter guy that wasn’t even that fast. He was tall but offered little else. It was never a good fit. Hes kinda like Dez, but Dez is supposed to be faster right?

Wasn't there lots of talk that Randy Moss would not fit the Patriots culture? How did that go?

When you have a person that loves football ( !Haynesworth) and has something to prove, that person will adapt to the environment to maximize the results.

A 1-yr non guaranteed deal is low risk, high reward....

Dez does not need to remember all the complex routes as Edelman/Hogan/etc.. Dez can do what Moss was doing... a Deep Threat.

IMO

Belichick will get one off someone’s practice squad.

A deep threat like Moss was doing? Dez? Dez Bryant?

That kid Bentley is really good and Patterson hopefully Belichick keeps them I just don't get it he seems to strike out a lot Brady is the one saving his ass my opinion I mean Belichick is a great coach that's not what I'm getting at I'm just saying some of the choices he makes leave me just confused

Every GM strikes out a lot. Every GM makes decisions that leave a fan base confused. The trick is to strike out less than the others. Belichick has done that over the last 18 years.

Good for a few years, except for in the post season, then he quote in his team and got traded.
Dez Bryant isn’t randy moss.

And how did haynesworth work out? Ocho?

Wasting time on an over the hill, dumb, off the field nightmare, has its own level of risk.

Wow. Just wow.
