Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

You saw the national anthem you didn’t see what happened leading up to it.
If it wasn’t a breakdown why didn’t he play?

He was a free agent and was never coming back, we didn’t agree with his contract demands. That’s why he left, not the Sb.

It is really all speculation on our parts. My opinion is he did something B.B. didn’t like. That seems like the simplest answer because if it was just a mental breakdown he would still be here. B.B. usually forgives emotional stuff. He left without B.B. putting up any resistance. His contract demands in regards to what he signed with the Titans seems reasonable for a borderline #1.

Has any other personell decision in BBs Carter in New England been publicly discussed by the coach?

And Richards snake would have been exactly the same whether butler played 0 snaps or all of them. It’s a different position and Richards played his normal snaps.

Andy you got some crazy autocorrect going on here.

It’s not vague at all.
Those were not Butlers words. Butlers words were “the lost faith in me”.
Those were not Butler's words. See above.

You asked for a hypothetical and now you dismiss it because it’s speculation. Too funny.
And butler himself said he had trouble in practice.
I didn't "ask for a hypothetical," there have been buckets of them. I asked for a hypothetical that justified the decision. There have been none.

My hypothetical makes perfect sense which is why the only way you can argue against it is by making stupid claims like vague or speculation.
I never said the decision was right I said it was made for a reason that the smartest football guy Ive ever seen believed was the right thing.

Please explain why you think he did it.

Stupid claims? Saying Butler "lost focus" is both speculative and vague. It in no way justifies throwing a Super Bowl away. But you will excuse anything that happens because it's Belichick.

I won't speculate like you or others because there is no set of facts that justifies what occurred.

This thread may need Dr. Phil .....

The Patriots clearly didn’t consider him a borderline # 1.
But I’m saying the SB and the FA decision were unrelated. After signing Gilmore instead there was no way the patriots would pay butler like that.

Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lieutenant Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know, that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives! You don't want the truth, because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall. We use words like "honor", "code", "loyalty". We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said "thank you", and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!

The previous post which I didn’t quote by jimnance mentioned how Jet’ fans thought about our unwillingness to let this go.

Some probably are. There are innocent people there who had witnesses say they were guilty. It’s a messy world. I was trying to point out that you don’t have to have a confession, witnesses or physical evidence to assess guilt. If you walk outside and the grass is wet, you don’t have to have seen or heard it rain to know it did.

When months pass and no credible reports come out about a player’s breach of discipline and with another team run by people the Coach “trusts” giving said player a good chunk of guaranteed money to come play for them might lead a reasonable person to believe the coach’s decision to bench the player was not based on talent or breach of discipline. That’s circumstantial evidence.

No offense, but I just can't waste my time with you. I find all your posts so consistently weak it's just not worth my time or energy.
Of course, that doesn't mean you're a bad person.
There are plenty of posters here who might disagree with me on an issue and can put forth a cogent and knowledgeable argument.
You're not one of them.

I'm not sure if I understand you're saying, but I don't think Butler was going to resign with the Pats regardless of what happened in the Super Bowl.

Sometimes I tempted to lock this thread .... to save them from themselves.
Way beyond the 5-7 levels of grief ...

Borderline Sadomasochistic perhaps?o_O

I mean you COULD lock it, I have no problem bringing up the butler scenerio as the cause of every negative story regarding the patriots

And there you have it folks! The defining argument of our times: “the you’re too stupid and/or too illiterate to debate it with” argument. It’s all the rage wherever thought and dissent are not encouraged.

I’m sure you’re a good man sir. But, I’ve never felt it necessary to spend my time telling someone that they’re not worth my time. You should give some good thought as to why you felt the need to do so.

Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. “Mankind.” That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can’t be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it’s fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom… Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution… but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

Y’all know me. Know how I earn a livin’. I’ll catch this bird for you, but it ain’t gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down to the pond and chasing bluegills and tommycocks. This shark, swallow you whole. No shakin’, no tenderizin’, down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that’ll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin’ basis. But it’s not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I’ll find him for three, but I’ll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you’ve gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don’t want no volunteers, I don’t want no mates, there’s too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.

Yes that’s what I’m saying

We're gonna need a bigger thread.
