Superbowl 52 Loss

Hello All,

After Superbowl 52, I had a hard time coming to terms with this loss. I know the Pats had lost before in the Superbowl but why did this one bother me so much? After taking some time to reflect, I realized that the problem is due to all the Eagles fans throwing the loss in my face. I live about 45 minutes away from Philadelphia, so you can just imagine all the news and hype. I am so sick and tired of hearing about the Eagles but I cannot seem to tune it out. Can anyone give me advice on how to get over this? It will be very much appreciated.

Thank you.
Nikki
I live an hour-1/2 away from Philly, in Hershey, so I feel ya.
My advice:

Philly fans are absolutely the worst sports fans of any fan base of the 4 major sports leagues. The only advice you can give them is: stop or we will tase you again.
Yankees/JETE/Vagiants fans are much worse than Philly fans, and so are Ravens fans.

Find a T-shirt from the Patriots' win over Philadelphia in Super Bowl 39 and wear it proudly. I'd look on eBay.

[QUOTE Bottom line: This is NOT the place you wanna go to get advice on how to “get over it.” Most of this board is still trying to figure it out. /QUOTE]

For every good poster who's great to talk football with, there are 2 NumeroPimp's who are constantly drowning in their own piss after calling it a season after the first incompletion of the day in the game day thread.

Being a fan of a successful team brings some welcomed problems, all of the other 31 fan bases would love to have a small piece of the success this team has had.

Apologies to @holyredeemer for not properly quoting their post...

They won. They get to howl a little. Smile sweetly and tell them you can remember how great that 1st one was and it gets even more exciting the more of them you win. But they don't have to believe a Pats fan on that, they can ask Skins, Boys & Giants fans. Eagles fans waited 57 years for a championship and had never won a Super Bowl. They watched everyone in their division win multiple Super Bowls while they had none. Just tell them you understand that of course they don't have any clue how to act like they've been there before...because they haven't. Maybe their grandfathers can tell them.

Eagles will not qualify for playoffs in 2018

We will win our sixth in Atlanta

Five sure beats one.

I see that you’re familiar with the Steelers fans’ answer to every football debate imaginable.

Sure would like to see the Pats get one more and ruin that whole line of thinking. I think that’s why the latest loss still stings so badly.

Start following global politics. Regardless of whether you are on the political left or right, that should get you so worked up that the Patriots SB loss will be a minor thing in comparison.

Either that, or debauchery and drunkenness.

Remind eagles fans they had the same mumber of super bowls as the cleveland browns before last season.

If it helps here is a brief story:

Was in NOLA in 2008 for Mardi Gras, coincidentally it was also the week of Superbowl. Was uptown near Tipitina's and my Bro in Law and friends knowing how rabid a fan I was strung an extension cord and wiring from across the street to the "Neutral Ground" with a TV and a "pop up" shelter on Napolean complete with a recliner to watch the Superbowl against the Giants. There I was in my Pats Jersey watching a game we should have won, but the end of the game there were about 300 fans watching the game with me.. most of whom were not Pats fans. All the while Bacchus was in the background..

As the story goes we lost, and that was a crushing defeat amidst all the folks who did not like the Patriots.. difficult to be small in that situation, I left the area changed and came back to help clean up..

That loss crushed me as up to that point the Pats were invincible with BB & #12... that game took a very long time to recover from, the following season provided some "soothing balm" to the open wound, but even that was not as successful as I wanted it to be.

Not sure I will ever get over that loss, the rest were easier as I know how hard it is and no one is invincible on that big stage...

Nikki- I used to live about 30 minutes from Philadelphia in Marlton. While this is close proximity and there are a lot of Eagles fans there, its still Jersey.
I was there right after the first Giants loss and during the second Giants Super Bowl. A few miles north of South Jersey you run into tons of Giants fans. That was tough.
I lived there during two playoff losses to the Ravens. Hadden Township is the home of Joe Flacco. And lots of Ravens fans sprinkle up from Baltimore.
I was there when the Bruins blew the big playoff lead to the heated Flyers...That was some suffering.
Losing sucks. But we’re lucky to cheer for a team that’s always going to be in it year in and out.

Eagles fans are pretty obnoxious. I usually just tell them congrats, and it's pretty obvious this is their first championship and they have no clue how to act. It's okay, enjoy it, but the title defense is tough and how everyone will be hunting them.

That usually changes the subject to the upcoming season and you can talk about the experiences from our championships and what went right or wrong in the title defenses.

You can even then bring it back to the last team to successfully defend the title the next season, the 2004 Patriots who beat...the Eagles.

Make a list of really irritating topics for eagles fans, then push a real stupid narrative.

I live with an Eagles fan. She has purchased approximately 326 tee shirts, hats and sweat shirts. She wears one every day. I lived in Philly for 12 years. Every time I open the FB there are Eagles posts. It's the worst loss in the BB era. At least for me. I won't stop complaining about it until the team wins another one. Stay strong. It's tough.

Just listen to BB. We are on to Cincinnati, I mean Houston. Philadelphia was really the better team that day. In life its only about today and tomorrow. Its the same with football. Any energy spent on the past is a waste of your focus. The Pats organization over the past 20 years has been the best. Enjoy it. Think how much money you saved not having to buy all that winning super bowl gear.

I wouldn’t rub it in the face of Steelers fans, or any team’s fans, to begin with...the loss and humility is hard enough on them. I don’t see why Eagles fans and players feel the need to rub salt. Even most Patriots haters have come around to at least respect and admire the team. I admire the Steelers history...I’ll only bring up the Patriots domimamce (for the last two decades) if they want to claim they have been the better team during this era or belittle the Patriots accomplishments, which is insane. I don’t see Patriots fans complaining about the Eagles win, even though there were two borderline (at best) TDs. I’ve only heard Pats nation congratulate the Eagles and acknowledge they were better that day and deserve the title. But I do think it’s funny that a team who just one their first Super Bowl is thumping their chests and explaining why the Patriots are so misguided and diverged from the path of excellence, which the Eagles apparently have been successfully following. We all smirk because this always happens....some team gets hot, beats the Patriots, claim they are going to embark on an even more impressive dynasty for reason X, while the arrogant Patriots stick to their arrogant ways, and very soon that team is back to straggling for top-10 picks for help.
