nice Reiss story on BB numbers game

Welcome to New England, rookie -- no 'real' number for you

quote:

And then there was one example of how the bizarre numbers actually seemed to affect the play on the field. When quarterback Brian Hoyerlooked downfield and saw running back James White running with a defender wearing No. 59, he liked the matchup because that’s usually the number donned by a linebacker. But as Hoyer delivered a high-arcing throw to the back right of the end zone, he soon realized that No. 59 was rookie cornerback Keion Crossen, the seventh-round pick from Western Carolina who flashed his 40-inch vertical leap and intercepted the pass as its high point.

Etling's throwing motion looks much improved.

Love hearing that Crossen is showing up. I was a big fan of his pre draft.

Edelman looks like Edelman. I think he'll be ready to go full speed in training camp. :)

Do not want to see Edelman a whole lot during preseason.

Brady was too Small? And came from a Smaller school? News to me.
Brady was frail. There was a comment his rookie year that B.B. was afraid to put him in a game because he was so skinny and frail.

Oh, I parsed it out differently. In context, Crossen discussed the challenges and motivations of being a small school player, so I think the "us [sic] smaller school guys" isn't inclusive of Brady, but rather of other players in his situation. And he's right that Brady was considered underdeveloped muscularly, even if he had the requisite height / weight numbers. Nothing wrong with taking motivation from Brady's lackluster draft profile.

Let's hope this keeps up. This is very significant. I've always said Edelman is the real game-changer, second only to Brady...
...and Gronkowski.

Both of the superbowls that we played without Edelman, we lost.

.

Pretty sure Edelman played in SB 46, but he was not the squirrell back then. He was just a young player that has since emerged. Also, he played defensive back that game due to injuries we had in the secondary and was abused all night.

Dont’a Hightower was back on the practice field Thursday — a positive sign for the New England Patriots linebacker as he recovers from a torn pectoral muscle that ended his 2017 season.

Of the Patriots players who finished last season on injured reserve, all but Jonathan Jones have been spotted at at least one of the team’s three OTAs sessions, though many have practiced in a limited capacity. (It’s possible Jones attended one of the two closed practices and did not appear in any team-released photos.)

Encouraging sign.

Let me know when he's able to play 80% of the snaps

Gronk just posted another cryptic message. This time in Instagram stories of him smiling and saying “Feeling good after a workout” with him smiling.

Then it has hashtag #NeverAgain.

And underneath it says “I’ll explain what that means someday”

Seems TB12 related.
