Mychal Kendricks

Kendricks is a really good example of how athleticism does not equal coverage ability. He’s like the upgraded version of Roberts, an undersized run defender who is athletic enough to cover NFL running backs but somehow just can’t. The Eagles routinely took him off the field in passing situations, which means he was on the sideline for 58% of the Eagles’ Super Bowl defensive snaps.

That said, at least he doesn’t come with that absurd salary anymore. He could make sense on a contract that better fits his role as a two-down linebacker.
He would be awful here.

To be honest I like what Kendricks showed playing in Philly during a few years. I dunno know what is his real value right now and his financial expectations but definitely he would be useful in the team. Playing mostly "nickel base formation" based on 3 safeties we also need a set of proven LBs. KVN and Hightower are the core of the corp and are expected to play most of the snaps. I am ok with it but I am really concerned with their health status because everybody knows they have had some health issues before. We do not know what Langi shows and I doubt the rookies impact in the first season will be prominent. I do not even mention Roberts who was eaten alive on this board. So my bottom line is we need some veterans help of course for reasonable price. Mychal Kendricks is a good fit to me.

Was due to make $6 Million for the Eagles this year and his cap hit was $7.6 million, not sure he would sign for the veteran minimum...

If a ring is a huge value for an NFL player, he has one, and now he may want to just cash in...

I think, it´s a little unfair.
In passing situations, the lineup RB vs LB is still a mismatch, all over the entire NFL.

Look at the evaluation of the RB position and the resulting gameplans. Catching abilities are no more luxury or only for 3rd down Backs, it´s meanwhile a must have.
Nickel and Dime defense celebrating their revivals. Why? Catching Backs are inda house.

And since Jim Schwartz take over the job as DC in Philly, Kendricks has a bad standing. Year after years, rumours, that the eagles are looking for a tradepartner.

Kendricks is better than Roberts. That's settled.

I agree. Kendricks makes too much sense

Not many LBs are worse than Roberts is :)
Don't understand why he is not already in Foxborough. We have one of the worst LB cores in the AFC and were exposed mightily in the SB.
Does Niok not know his Agents number?
Note to Pats F.O......Wake up down there.

We Drafted 2 "definite maybees" 2 down thumper types. have an UDFA from last year whom a stoner almost killed. a Buffalo cast off, a mediocre LB from the Lions and an oft injured Hightower.....to go along with Roberts. Yep the worst LBs maybe in the league.
I don't get it.

Nah hes too young for Gruden.
After listening to a incogerent Gruden and visiting the wasteland that is Cleveland.
That is when BB should call with a low offer.

I don't see the harm in one of the Emperor's lackeys giving Kendricks' agent a call to arrange a visit here, and then having him go through a workout to perhaps be better-able to gauge his potential usefulness.

These two are related. There are two young prospects coming into camp who fit this description, right? I don't think the Pats are going to get into a salary war with a couple of other teams over a guy when they haven't tested their youngsters yet.

Minnesota will be tough for him to pass up. Contending team that just so happens to have his brother on the same team as well? That’ll be tough for him to pass up for sure.

The two areas I'd like for us to pick up a veteran are LB and safety....just to have Roberts and Richards off the team would be such an improvement to our D.

Not opposed to either. I wouldn't mind one of our younger guys getting a shot though. D. Jones and D. Travis could be useful role players. No way they are worse than Richards.
