There weren’t really any QB’s left because B.B. pissed away his picks and never felt like it was a priority even though TFB hinted he would be done pretty soon.....major whiff by BB

QUOTE="Peachhead, post: 5310485, member: 10109"]There weren't really any QBs left. If they can work on this guy's pocket presence we may have something. He only had two ints last year. So at least he wasn't throwing it up for grabs whenever he got pressured.

I'm really bummed we missed out on Mike White, and personally I wasn't enamoured with Luke Falk.[/QUOTE]

Bill whiffed on getting a GOOD QB project going....piss poor job. Brady likely done after this season and we have no heir. Sorry but this Etling kid sucks....no rationale in drafting this kid for anything
What should he have done?

pick make no sense

The amount of people here insinuating that this is the origins of another Tom Brady draft story being written before our eyes is honestly insulting to Tom Brady.

Well mine was intended as a joke, sorry if it went over (or under [too bad a joke on my part]) your head. ;) LOL

Really? d%#*!@t! How did I miss this hint by Brady? Especially after his agent came out and stated that Brady’s intentions remain the same they’ve always been! Ya know, playing into his mid 40’s? I really wish I had your insight.

He can’t be so good that he’ll require a spot on the 53-man. He needs to be a legit project

Bradys agent just reported in the last week that Brady is still planning on playing till 45 or until he is not at a championship level. I believe his championship level after watching him have an MVP season is still 3-5 years away. I will trust Bill when he thinks he has found the replacement for Tom.

Danny Etlingwas not picked to be TBs replacement. He was picked to help on the training ground and maybe compete for back up. They have not even started to look for his replacement seriously yet as toms got 2 more years. Tom is old and does not want to be doing to much legwork on the training field, so they needed a QB who could take part in training and reps. nothing more.

That should have been the pick for Falk....Etling couldn’t carry Faulk’s or Lauletta’s jock strap
Well, considering Lauletta would be hard pressed to throw his jock to the laundry guy....

He's a big boy.

I’m sure he doesn’t consult us fans when he makes a pick. But why would you pass on Lamar Jackson and mason Rudolph and Luke Falk and wait until the 7th round to draft Danny Etling? He only completed 60% of his passes. The only thing I could think of is he is confident TB12 will stay another 3 years and wanted a young qb to back him up who isn’t 32 years old.

What do you think Bill Belichick is going to do with the stockpile of draft picks he picked up over the last few days?

What does Danny Ainge do with draft picks?

They trade them. There are more players coming. Are you old enough to remember Corey Dillon? Randy Moss? Danny Amendola? All acquired after the draft for future draft picks.

Stay tuned.

Is it realistic to believe we sign Manziel to come and be the heir apparent?

No.

There will be another veteran QB in camp who got displaced this weekend. I am not sure which one, but it will be a solid player. Belichick has future picks to trade and several teams have QBs to unload.

For instance, the Jets have to unload two of the following three after picking Sam Darnold: Teddy Bridgewater, Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg. Interesting.

The Eagles have an even more interesting logjam.

Forget Johnny Clipboard. Johnny Manziel sucks and is undisciplined. There are plenty of great kids around looking for a shot.

What have you seen as far as veteran cuts are concerned? I'll be watching the UFA signings over the next three days. After that settles down, I expect a big trade or two.

I really like Belichick picking up the future picks this week. A lot of teams have cap issues and need to shave off some mid-career veterans who could fit in New England. The Saints, Steelers and Falcons all have serious cap issues.

You can have the number 1 overall pick with an obvious quarterback that everyone knows we should draft like a Peyton Manning or John Elway and Belichick will draft some unknown that nobody has even heard of. That's his MO. Arrogance? I don't know but it's what he does.
